Does anyone know what this might be. The frist patch had been there for a while, i did go to the vets about it but they said not to worry about it. But today i have only realised it started to spread? Any ideas

Did you see a vet that has experience with guinea pigs? If not, i would get a 2nd ( proper, non cop out) opinion👍

Sorry no, I can’t help you but I’m sure someone will come along soon and offer help. If you are at all worried have a vet visit x

Recommended Guinea Pig Vets

I went to pets at home they were the ones that checked him.

Not all Pets at Home vets are as good with piggies as others. My local Pets at Home vets are very good as is the one near where I'm moving to.

I will take him to the vets and see what they say this time. Thank you everyone for your help and support. Will keep an update

Hi!

It is called osseous metaplasia, i.e. bony tissue replacing other tissue in the eye.
Links - Eye Conditions - Guinea Lynx Records

This condition is not uncommon in older guinea pigs. My Maelog, who lived to 7 years of age, had it quite a bit more advanced by the end. There is nothing that can be done about. It is however not painful or malign and doesn't require any medical treatment. ;)

Thank you very much for your reply. My guniea pig is only 2 i was just worried as its spreading more on his eye.

There seems to be a genetic disposition in some guinea pigs, but while it is unsightly it is not harmful.

Okay thank you very much for your support will keep an lookout for the eye
