So about half an hour ago I got my piggies out for a photoshoot and as I picked Arthur up I noticed his eye looked very strange. I set him down and took a photo.

What is wrong with it?

I can't really see too well, and obviously if you are worried it's a vet trip, but it could be pea eye, which is a fatty deposit. It doesn't (seem) to cause any discomfort, and my boar Parkin has one. The vet isn't fussed about it and he's had it since he was about 18 months (he's now nearly 4). You might want to check it out on Guinea Lynx?

Thank you both.

He doesn't seem bothered by it so I'm glad its nothing serious. I'll definitely keep an eye on him and next week book them into the vets.

Pea eye can often be an early indication of heart problems.......whilst it may not be an urgent thing at the moment - you do need to get this checked out at some point in the near future in terms of his heart size on Xray and a possible accumulation of fluid on/in the chest cavity.

Undiagnosed heart problems can (and do) suddenly "present" as bad breathing and lethargy by which time they may be untreatable.

If diagnosed early enough a heart piggie can be given regular meds and have a very happy longer life without any further problems.

Thank you. Like I said I will have him checked out this week. :) I plan to take all four of them for an annual checkup and will have that taken care of. He's very young so I do hope it isn't heart problems. He is quite a chunky little thing though. He used to be the smallest now hes almost as big as the biggest whose a year older than him.

Agree with Pebble, my last Aby piggy had pea eyes & she passed away from heart failure :( could be a co-incidence but I suggest a vet check up to make sure there is no foreign body (such as hay seed etc) in the eye & then a check on his heart. If it has appeared overnight then it may be more likely to be an eye injury though.

Well his eye has looked watery for a little while, about 2 months or so but everytime I looked it no longer seemed to be. I only noticed it when he was in the cage not in my arms strangely.

But the little lump thing has only just appeared yesterday.
