Eye Problems - Bleeding!

I've just went out to check on the girls and Elma's eye is gunky and there's blood! I' so got an appointment for this evening - do I need to get an emergency appointment this morning at my local vet? What treatment should they give her?

And it's not just Elma - one of Clara's eyes is completely shut. I noticed that the piggies had watery eyes in general - not weeping or anything, just watery - I thought it was the high pollen count. The others eyes are fine, just Elma and Clara.
 
We've managed to move the appointment forward. What treatment should I expect? Presumably eye drops of some kind? I'm a bit anxious as we couldn't get an appointment with our regular vet.
 
Hope all goes well for you. It may be a poke in the eye from sharp stalk of hay, but sounds more like an infection of some sort. I expect the vet will have a jolly good look and inspect the surface of the eyes very carefully.
 
I would think maybe eye drops and pain relief but it depends what they find.
 
The vet had a very thorough look in Elma's eye and couldn't find anything like a grass seed or bit of hay, but she has flushed out a lot of pus and gunk. Apparently the gland or tear duct (I'm not entirely sure which) has a build up of something in it but she didn't try and get it out today. Elma has some eye drops and then on Tuesday her eye will be examined again and if necessary she'll be put under to have it properly cleaned out. No injuries to the eye or corneal ulcer, and no dental issues.

Clara also has drops.

Fingers-crossed the drops do their job and she doesn't have to have surgery!

I will try and post some photos here for future reference, if anyone faces a similar problem.
 
Here is an update and some pictures:

Clara responded very well to eye drops and is now fine.

The eye drops did not work do well for Elma and she developed 'aggressive' conjunctivitis in both eyes. While the eyeballs were relatively untouched, the surrounding eyelid was very red and inflamed and there was a lot of discharge.

Elma also had inflammation in one of her lympnodes as a result, and was started on Zithromax and metacam. The improvement that occurred over night was remarkable - when I went to do her drops in the morning, her eyes were practically normal!

She has just been for her check up and Kim is very pleased with her improvement - apparently Elma was the topic of dinner time conversation, her eyes had been that bad! Kim stained Elma's eyes and found nothing of concern. Elma still has an inflamed lympnode on one side, but it has decreased in size. She will continue with her Zithromax and metacam.

I don't have any photos that show the extent of the inflammation in both eyes, but they were VERY red and swollen.

:D Ooooooh, those eyes do look very nasty! Glad to hear that they are getting better! :tu::tu:
