is this normal for a guinea pigs eye to have white around the edges ?

Hi! That looks pretty normal to me.
Older piggies usually develop a blurry outline. Some can get osseous metaplasia around the eye (soft tissues are gradually replaced by bony tissue). There is no treatment for it, and is not a painful condition; it usually develops on the outside of the eye ball usually pretty gradually. It looks like white ring around the eye.
My Maelog was one of the piggies that had osseous metaplasia.
