Eyes Closed

My guinea pig is sleeping on my lap with his eyes closed and he was doing a soft wheeking noise, which I assume is a good noise
I don't even see him sleep like that in his cage, is it rare for them to sleep like this?

Eyes closed means they trust you a lot. It sounds to me like he's very content and happy to sleep in your lap and the wheeking noise could be happiness.

He sounds very relaxed, so feel happy. Guinea pigs mostly sleep with their eyes open, like the majority of prey animals.

I'm surprised because he seems so timid and scared of us still he runs away when you go near his cage and is tough to catch I've been hand feeding him everything he gets for a while and sitting in the playpen with him to make him less scared of us, must of been working
