Over the past few weeks, we have been trying Harry and Junior together. Everything was going great - fine on the sofa (in fact is was a 'lets see who can get the most 'boar glue' one each other'!;)) , on the floor (much less humping, but generally getting on), and in the run outside.
They had a lovely bath together yesterday, but put them in a cage together, and they started to fight. ARGGHHmallethead
fortunately we seperated them before they wounded each other.

So i'm just going to have to face it - we have 4 grumpy alpha male boars who like their own space and like to live alone! malletheadmallethead

Becca, you know technially speaking they didn't draw blood so all isn't lost... Do you have a different cage you could put them in.

When I bonded Fred with Marvin they were fine neutral ground etc but then the minute they were put back in the cage, Fred went crazy was lunging and chattering "deafening". I grabbed Marvin out, as I was too scared and he was just baby.

Well anyways the next day I tried again since blood wasn't drawn, this time I left them 24 hrs in the bathroom on the floor and when I put them in the cage they were fine for 6 weeks till Marvin hit the hormones :(.

Just a thought, maybe this Idea might help you.

Tempting, but Hubby says no!
i'll copy something i posted elsewhere about Arthur, so you have some idea what we are up against (yes Joanne it might look familiar:(|)):

'Now i have a bit more understanding of GPs, i can see it is always going to be very difficult to find Arthur someone to share a cage with. He is absolutely covered with war wounds - huge scars across his back, and ears that look as if they have been attacked by a toddler with pinking shears! He has a cataract in his right eye so bad his pupil won't constrict. He is emotionally an alpha male, but at only just 1kg and petitely built, most other boars tower over him. His side-by-side mate Harry is already 1.4kg at 11 month old, and even when Harry is trying to be submisive and lower his head, it is miles above Arthur's.
We don't know Arthur's history, or how old he is. We joke and say he has PTSD, but we probably aren't that far from the truth.'

All the boys live in our lounge and 3 cages is more than enough! (our set up is 2 120cm cages on stands and a divided c+c on the floor)
my hopes were if we can get Harry and Junior together, then i might be able to argue to wives for Arthur and Monty. the very Big But is that it would have to be a spayed wife for Arthur as he is not physically fit enough to be neutered. Seriously, 4 pigs (with occasional fosters from Becklen) is really our physical and emotional limit.
However, if anyone hears of a spayed girl pleeeease let me know!;)

We will continue to try H and J in supervised time together over the next few weeks, so fingers and claws crossed please (but i won't hold my breath!)
Becca

Becca have you got a big space, that you can't leave them together in for say 24 hrs as I did, it might just be he's a dominant pig when it comes to his home. Maybe try them for a long period together that way he maybe more accepting, but hey he's a GP, no one can predict them!

Ps. Tell your hubby he's a spoil sport :))!

oddly, when the agression started with Harry adn Junior, it was Junior who started it. (the smaller of the 2)
Hubby is not working this coming week, so he has instructions to clean the kitchen floor, so we can have bigger free range area than normal, and we'll try againmallethead
At least the garden is full of dandilions, to make a lovely snack and good distraction:x

that's what Hels said too! ( a few weeks back)

Hels, is a bad example. I mentioned a male pig... and I hadn't even asked my parents yet next thing I knew there were male pigs on route :))!

I could have talked about it for adleast a few months before going ahead but Hels can be very persuasive :x.

I'm glad she is though, otherwise Patrick wouldn't be here, and here's me and my getting no more pigs rolleyes... Just goes to show never say never especially were hel's is concerned. :))

try living down the road from her!

I second this we do love her too... and one day I may even go visit! I shall pignap all the piggies :)).

I think a GP annexe is wonderful idea... :) xx

I am so sorry that things are not working out for you!

So sad that we do not have a cavy fairy...
