I have an odd boar from a failed male trio. He was bullied and was obviously the most submissive. I want to get him some lady friends but I'm not sure how many.
He needs to be neutered first and will have to be kept separate for six wèeks but after that I would love to introduce him to a set of four ladies. Would it be best to get four baby girls from the same litter and let thwmsettle in for a couple of months then introduce him ? I'm not sure how to go about it.

Hello and welcome to the forum. There are lots of guides, some on bonding. I cannot help you as I have no experience but someone will come along soon with lots of experience. Glad you are thinking about the happiness of your lone boar though x

Lucky lad. Once he is 6 weeks post neuter he can safely meet sows. Many people would opt for a pair of sows but there is no reason why you can’t have more. It’s just the dynamics , potential for fall outs and risk vet costs that increase with the larger herd size,
My Ralphie did live with 4 ladies, but 2 have since died. What sized enclosure would you have for a herd of 5?

When we had Theo neutered we were planning on him having one pair of ladies, cousins his own age- but then we accidentally adopted an extra pair of older ladies during his 6 week post-op wait! So we bonded both pairs of ladies first which was quite tricky and nerve-wracking, and put them in a brand new C&C cage- then adding a little husboar a couple of weeks later was quite easy. It probably depends on the boar but if he's lonely and submissive I'd say get your female hierarchy established first and then add in the husboar and the ladies can tell him how it all works :)
