Don't you just love them?

I live on the opposite side of the Irish Sea from my parents and still my mother manages to drive me up the walls. Her latest is that apparently, Comet really needs to diet. Apparently because he weighs a kilo, and only because he weighs a kilo, he's obese and I'm killing him.

I mean I pointed out that that wasn't right the first time and I'm not going to keep doing it, but seriously. He doesn't eat more than Blitzen does and B's around 800g so it clearly isn't an overfeeding issue. She's just obsessed with the numbers in weight. My previous pig, Jake, was a large pig (at least 1.4kg) but he wasn't fat, just enormous. But every time I had him at the vet (because I don't drive) she would be loudly insisting to the poor vet that Jake was fat.

I live in a different country, and I'm 29 years old. This never ends. :mal:

Ho hum, perhaps I should introduce her to my boys? The lightest piggy is 1100 grams! :))

:)) all joking aside mind you she's getting ridiculous about it. Like I could tell her a thousand times his weight is perfectly normal. Next time it comes up in conversation,it's the exact same thing. It just never sinks in. Selective memory I swear.

Lol aww poor boy.
Dont tell your mum, my grace at her heaviest was over 1400g (chunky! ;) )
Boars are usually bigger than sows too!

One of my workmates says their all 3 of them "fat-arses" !
Cute :luv: poor babies :D
Xx

It's okay, I've a friend who has taken to referring to Comet as a jack russell in disguise...except he's so much nicer than most Jack Russells :))

I think grace is as big as my brothers Chuahua? X Jack Russell
...maybe bigger :D

.... I love big butts &I can not lie!

I do prefer a bigger dog personally too lol ;)

ive got a piggie that weights 1.7 grams and he is not overweight.your piggie is a normal weight.Maybe politely inform your mum average weights of piggies.

Honestly it wouldn't make a difference. I've explained that Comet is normal so many times, she's still forgotten within 5 minutes. It just doesn't stick.

Dementia or bloody minded.
Let it go over the top of your head lorcan, your a good piggy Mum, so ignore her. Tia's 1.4

Gotta love mum's eh. Theres always a lecture lol but they mostly mean well. I think Comet looks very healthy and doesnt look fat at all and if the vet is happy with his weight that's all that matters.

My mother is very much the same. She is obsessed with EVERYONES weight be it pets, family or total strangers passing on the street. She either labels everyone as anorexic or "fat". Funny how she passes judgement without ever looking in the mirror at herself first.

Last time she visited she actually made me ill from cooking a large meal ( I really struggle with big portions anyway) that had something in I am allergic to but was unable to detect until tasted!
Her response was "people are not allergic to that".

If only we could choose family like we choose our friends.

I think it's automatic for them to worry even when they don't need to/shouldn't lol.

I don't think our age has anything to do with our Mums having to have a few points to keep on about, they just can't let their children grow up. At 29 you are still a youngster, I'm 59 and my Mum still does this to me, mainly on how and when I spend my money and how my piggys rule my life. I try very hard not to do this to my children because I know how annoying it is.

My dad likes to comment on the pigs whenever I see him, even though I've lived 150 miles away for 5 years. Apparently I'm wasting my time and money by having them. Yeah, I do feel a bit sad sometimes that I've not been on holiday for about 7 years but that's part of having pets and no back up to look after them for me.

I stress out about Jon Snow weighing just over 1 kg. He's the smallest pig I've had for many years, I really wish he was heavier.

Blow her mind with some pictures of cuy pigs and tell her they regularly hit 3kg's, sometimes more. Usually stops people fatshaming my 1.2kg lad!
