Holly and Cracker :)) (I got them around Christmas time)

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww x) x) x) x) Look at their little grumpy faces drool awwwwwww holly and cracker are fab names too (i like the one whose sat under the book case x) x) Awwww!

Can i ask...what are they like as pets? Are they cuddley or does it depend on personality? x)

It depends on personality, Holly doesn't mind being handled but Cracker can't stand it. I think they can be cuddly once you've had them for a while. I've only had them 2 or 3 months and it can take a year for them to get used to you - they live up to 20 years so a month is not so long to them as it is some small anmials :)

They are just so much fun to watch though, I used to have them in my living room and people would watch them whizzing around their cage and having a sand bath instead of the TV!

These two were from ChinsRUs in West Yorkshire if you are thinking of getting some ;) they have lots of lovelies

Oh my! You learn something new every day, i never knew they lived that long...i thought they lived the same length of time as a guinea pig :x

I can imagine them being and making lovely pets, drool i wouldnt mind some chins....will have to have talk with the OH...i wouldnt mind one once we've moved into our own place drool :))

very much so, which is why it's so annoying they get sold in pet shops. I guess a lot of people assume they will have a similar lifespan to a piggie

Yeah our local PAH have started selling them :( Although ive never noticed any chin cages in the PAH only degu and hamster ones...hmm...

I personally would tend to assume they lived a similar length of time to a rabbit/guine pig etc simply due to size, and would HOPE that anyone selling them would make clear the length of life span, I thought getting piggies for maybe 7 years was a big enough commitment (never mind the kids :)))

Where I live these are sold in most of our pet shops :(.
I can't say I've ever seen any paperwork or signs to say they live that long, and I didn't realise that they lived anywhere near 20yrs ....blimey.

I know, my dad was totally gobsmacked when I told him rabbits live for 10-15 years and he has had rabbits for over 20 years (although he doesn't have any at the moment). Pets as exotic as chinchillas don't stand a chance really :(
