Connie came to live with us in early 2014. She came from @The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue together with her sister Violet (although at that time they were known as Tasha and Lola). I've never understood how they came to be in rescue as a more friendly and more laid back pair of piggies would be hard to find. Within half an hour of moving in, scent marking and popcorning for joy, Connie was sleeping in the open showing us just how happy she was to be with us. Connie was the under sow. Violet was the boss and Connie accepted that. She was very confident with humans, liking nothing more than a good chin and ear rub and to nestle on my neck and shoulder nibbling my hair. She very quickly found a very special place in my heart and became a firm favourite.
Connie had been struggling with poor health since Christmas. After her recent spay she enjoyed a period of relative good health and only yesterday she was shrieking with joy at a pile of dandelion leaves and stuffing her face as usual. She took a sudden turn for the worse today. She deteriorated very rapidly and it was clear that there was some sinister underlying condition. So I took the decision that it was kinder to help her on her way to the Rainbow Bridge.
Farewell my beautiful agouti girl. Violet misses you. Popcorn free.
