I sadly had to rush Morwenna 'White Seas' (nickname Menna) to the out-of-hours vets on Sunday, 19th June, for an emergency pts/euthanasia in the wake of our first heat spike of the summer to prevent any further unnecessary suffering. While Morwenna's death hasn't come as a shock, seeing how frail she was and how her arthritis had been speeding up, the end sadly did not come kindly to her.
After nearly 8 years and 4 months, which she spent mostly here with the Tribe, she leaves a huge gap; especially as she is the last of her happy little piggy family to die - truly the end of an era!

My lively, inquisitive and naughty TEAS sanctuary adopted triplets definitely caused a stir. Morwenna was by far the smallest (she only weighed 40g at birth) but she was by far the most energetic and truly deserved her nickname 'Pocket Rocket'! Morwenna was always keen on making sure that she was not missing out against her two bigger sisters.

The three sisters were later in the year joined by a quiet fuzzy chocolate coloured orphan from the Potteries I renamed Angharad. Bedo, his love Essylt/Jessica and her daughter Crisiant/Krystal (the latter pair TEAS foster piggies) took over the role of parenting for all the youngsters. Morwenna and her black sister Mererid were the last ones to remain. Mererid passed away just 9 days before her 8th birthday in February but Morwenna lived to become the first Tribe adoptee to celebrate an 8th Gotcha Day/adoption anniversary on 1st May.

Considering the long time hellhole that their highly pregnant mother had come out of and Morwenna's own shaky start in life, nobody could ever imagined her to live to such a great age! She is not quite my oldest ever piggy but the Tribe piggy I have had for longest; beating Tegan's previous record by several months.
I have laid her to rest in the same planter as Mererid with a send-off bouquet of rose 'Ballerina' (the closest I could come to Pocket Rocket) accompanied by dainty looking self-seeded tough survivors to symbolise Morwenna's zest for life against all the odds, bell flowers, masterwort, cranesbill, toadflax and wallflower.
