Winston 22.11.04 - 21.07.11 - 6 years 8 months

It is with a very heavy heart that I write to say that my lovely, sweet natured Winston has died. Two weeks ago he had an operation to remove bladder stones and finally lost his battle today. I knew he was near the end of his life and we spent a wonderful but emotional last afternoon together in the garden today. He has been an amazing little boy, surviving having his eye removed due to an abscess nearly two years ago and, until recently, lived a normal life. I feel privileged to have owned him and I will miss him terribly. Below a couple of photos from our last afternoon together.

hiyah, you are so close to me! I am in Morecambe, hello :)

I am so sorry about Winston, i too lost a boy to stones last summer and i found it such a devastating time. However, the vets (Bay in Morecambe) were fabulous and very understanding and helpful, i couldnt have got better care for him. (He was only 3 1/2) :0

Rip Winston, so beautiful, and a ripe old age too xxxxx

Do you have any other piggies?

I'm so sorry you lost your beautiful Winston and am in tears as these bloody stones are hell grrrr
So many piggies suffer with them, one of my boars had his op two weeks ago for a whopper - the anger I felt at this 'thing' cannot be put on a public forum but also the relief of seeing my boy pain free and himself again was worth placing him into the very capable hands of our vet.
I cannot imagine the thought of losing any one of my piggies and hope you can find a little bit of comfort knowing you did your very best for him out of love.
Run free forever beautiful boy x>>

BIG HUG!

I have lost my first (and very special) piggy after a bladder stone op, so I can sympathise with how gutted you are feeling.

Winston was a very handsome, personable boy, and you tried your best to give him a good life; he would have felt that. I am sad that he couldn't hang on any longer!

Oh I am so very sad for your loss. He looks adorable and how lovely to be able to spend some true quality time with him on his last day. He looks as if he is smiling in the bottom picture. You can take a degree of comfort in knowing you did the very best for him that anyone could do and he has lived a long and happy life with you. R.I.P. Brave Winston xxxxx

Hi that's a coincidence! I was in Morecambe on Tuesday having a coffee at the Midland with my 21 and 18 year old boys! Thank you for your kind words. I go to Lancaster Veterinary Centre in Lancaster and James Glass (vet) and all his staff, have been fantastic throughout with Winston.

Winston had a brother Wilbur who died at quite a young age so we've been amazed how long he's lived - my children used to compare him to my nana who is nearly 101!

We're now left with one little piggie called Barney who is 4 1/2 who we still think of as the baby because Winston was so old! At one time we had six piggies - Billy & Benny, Henry & Harvey plus Winston & Wilbur - they're all buried until our applie tree in the garden and have a special plant to mark where they are.

So glad I've joined this forum it's truly helping me x

Oh he was lovely! Sweet dreams Winston x

It's a long time to have a piggie, mine died recently aged 7, so I know how you are feeling. :( Hope you are ok.

8... so sorry to hear about Winston, but what an amazing age he lived to! I bet he had a fantastic life with you and he is now popcorning away at the bridge, big hugs to you x
