Last weekend we went to the farm park we always go to and I always get excited about seeing the piggies but this time it was quite sad. I noticed all the females had either just given birth or were pregnant and the males were still in with them. I guess for the piggies it was like a natural environment and they were doing what they know :( Anyway I started taking pics and then went away when I returned one of the farm workers was taking out the males and putting them with the rabbits this wasnt a great option but I have to say these poor sows were bald on their rear ends :'( :'( I was able to watch a sow give birth there and then and then noticed one of the males was still in the enclosure and he tried to get at her just after she popped so I got in and got him (hubby was look out lol) and put him with the lads.

Here are some of the pics I took not amazingly clear sorry :)

There was 1 large bowl of food between about 20/25 piggies. You can just see the bald patches on the piggies rear :'( and they are preggers

A rather scrawny looking piggy :'( :'( Preggers to I think

That's desperatly sad! :( Poor little mites. I'd report it. They look so adorable how can they just leave them to get on with things! My local farm park has guineas I haven't seen them yet but I plan on going up soon! If the pigs are kept as bad as their bales of hay are I won't hold my breath!

Poor piggies I'd so throw whoever's doing that into jail! :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

Just looking at the pics, what causes baldness in pregnant pigs? Is it stress or is it not strictly down to them being pregnant?

I thin its due to stress as not all pregnant piggys get bald spots O0

Thanks, I read online that back to back breeding can cause it too. :( Poor souls!
