sIs this normal for a guinea pig to be so affectionate straight off? I have had my girls 2 weeks and I swear bubble really loves me. She comes up to the edge of the cage when I sit down and squeaks for a scratch, while I'm mucking out she rubs against my hand and purs, and doesn't even run away anymore when I try to pick her up, just runs up my arm to sit in my hood! Considering when we first got them bubble would just hide (still does from my husband) Whereas squeak is very skittish with me and loves my husband. Squeak actually fell asleep eyes shut on my husband today

Is it weird to form such close bonds after such a short time?

I think so I've had a few who have gotten attached very quickly and some who I have had a year and still wary :)

Guineapigs are generally sweet natured animals anyway.
But sometimes I think it may depend on how much attension they recieved from the person/place you got them from.

Nutty loved me instantly. He ran up my dressing gown sleeve for a cuddle the first morning we had him. I was just trying to change the food! Our newest little pig is really tame too. But others pigs I've had have been nervous and my original pair took a year to tame. It varies from pig to pig and where they cam fron as the other person said!

It's great that you are so close :)

Piggies can be very different by nature and experience.

A lot depends on their background; yours must have been well loved and handled, and never had any traumas.
