Ive now have 2 new guinea pigs, 8 weeks old. Choc and Chip (i already have Cookie :)) )
Choc has a very fast heart rate and she seems to rock with the beats.
Is this normal?
Chip doesn't appear to do it

i know this isnt much reasurence but i have to young piggies both of which do it from time to time usually while munching on hay infact yeh now that i look at mine they do it a lot it looks like 2 beats per second to me possibly 3 there both happy and healthy does your piggies heart beats look quicker than that?

Its about the same as your describing. Its only one of them that is doing it.
Choc is eating well and drinking

I think I'm just worrying as ive recently lost my piggy Rosie and 2 months ago lost my other piggy Penny

yeh my youngest chip who is coming up 4 months does it more often than piglet whos about 2 months older does it more often that piglet sounds like nothing to worry about :) as long as theres no heavy breathing or no eating drinking etc dont worry :)

awwwwww congratulations on Chip and Choc x)x)x)
Sorry no idea re the heart beat.....
have you looked up any information re hearts and piggies at all?
If you're in any doubt i'd go to see the vets, might be worth a quick check over seen as they're newbies x)

Barry always had a very fast rapid and sometimes irregular heartbeat. He passed away a few months ago from a URI. It might be worth getting him checked to be on the safe side. I have no idea whether the two could be linked but he never seemed to be well after I noticed it.

Lots of love to your piggles :)

i would at least do like Glynis said and check it out re heart and things as they can get problems that disguise underlying heart problems.

I lost a boy last summer who had a UTI, then pneumonia, but in the end the vet said she thought he had an underlying heart problem (she could tell this by the pouch bit under his head apparently!)

Best to be on the safe side.
