Hi!

We were finally getting over Sweep having a URI and now I have another pig, another problem.

Mr Popcorn has been curled up in the corner of the cage since I got home, so I got him out for a look and noticed he has a cut on his back and a fat lip (also looks a bit like a cut).

I'm going to make an appointment at the vet tomorrow for him, but I wondered if anyone had any ideas of what could have happened, or any ways to look after the cuts until tomorrow?

He lives with another boar but they have always gotten on, I hope this isn't his doing :(

It's possible they have had a fight, even if they have got on up to now something may have upset them or his friend may have been cornered. The other possibility is that the wound on his back is self inflicted due to a skin problem like mites or fungal, but that wouldn't explain his lip. I would bathe the wounds in warm water until you see the vet. Is he eating ok?

He's eating his biscuits and hay, and he's had a bit of cucumber and coriander.

He is cowering whenever his cage mate goes near him though so I think they may have had a falling out :( I've put a barrier up in the middle of the cage for now, they can still see and smell each other, and I'll see how they get on... Boys!

Typical boys. The divider is a good idea, he may perk up now. Good that he is eating. Just keep an eye on his weight.

Has he broken a front tooth, e.g. from falling a little way accidentally; that's what has cause the odd pig of mine to have a 'fat lip', that is often cut by their incisor

I've had a better look at his mouth this morning and his teeth look fine, the cut seems to go through the lip so it's cut on the inside too (not sure if that makes sense?). He has perked up a bit being divided from Oscar, he's not just sitting in the corner and is still eating and drinking ok.
I'm not too sure what to do with them next, I'm going to leave the divider in whilst I'm at work today and read the threads in the behaviour board for now! And get him to the vet this evening :)
