Ok, this may sound silly to experienced people but, how do you tell the difference between a fat sow or a pregnant one? I have just bought a few and I don't know if they're having too much food or not as they are pear shaped, and I KNOW they have not been near a boar:{

i know there are for more experienced people on here who are able to help you, and maybe confirm what i say.
but i always thought pear shaped sows indicated they were pregnant?

maybe upload a pigture?

*also we are a rescue friendly forum, so please bare this in mind when saying you bought them*

If you are not experienced the only real way to know is to wait for the full 10 weeks from when they arrived, weigh them weekly to track weight gain - an incremental increase can be indicative, as can increased thirst and elongated nipples.

Sadly we see pregnancies not only from petshops not keeping their piggies separated but also from some breeders, back yard breeders, gumtree, preloved, some of the poorer standard rescues and lots of them 'have never been near a male'.

peegs

How long have you had them?
How many do you have and are you SURE of their sexes? If not you could post some pics of their cheeky bits and some members can let you know what sex they are :)

If you're new to guinea pigs then i'd recommend taking them for a general check up at a vet. If you let us know the area you live in then someone may be able to recommend a vet that's good with piggies :)

Thankyou so much - I won't bother coming on here again:)>>>
