Hi all what foods can I feed to Walter to help him gain weight he lost a lot due to being poorly ?
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about fattening him up. If he is fully recovered now he should gain weight gradually so I would focus on keeping him on a healthy diet. I've only used oats when a piggy has needed to maintain/gain weight ahead of surgery

Just a sprinkle of oats is fine, you can sprinkle a few oats on his meals a few times a week to bulk him up, my piggies love grated sweet potato but they wont eat it chopped into chunks for some reason! We have grated sweet potato once a week as a treat anyway but if your piggy has lost weight through illness you could feed it 2 or 3 times a week, its very rich so dont over do things but a small spoonful a couple of times a week should be ok, our vet recommended it when one piggy lost a lot of weight after a course of antibiotics and when we adopted a piggy with dental problems who was very small and couldnt crunch her veg very well. But lots of hay is always the best thing of course, the veg and oats are just a very tasty top-up, you dont want him turning into a fatty and not eating his hay!
