Well as most of you probably know... My bunny rabbit Peter is very Skinny!
The other day I bought some 'Heinz Apple and Banana Cereal' pureed baby food... and I was wondering if it would be okay for Peter to eat this?
Do you think it might be good for fattening her up? Ive tried oats and banana but she wouldnt eat it! I bought the baby food in case Cindy's babies
are underweight :)

Thanks everyone!

I think it should be OK as long as it has no junk in the ingredients.

Will you be syringe feeding?

Awesome :)

Er... not sure ? what do you think would be best? Id probably try feeding from a spoon first :) She is VERY old so I dont want to make her choke with the syringe :-\

Awesome... Ill have to wait till Cindy Finally pops to see if I actually need the food for the babies :)

I have no idea... Very old! Ive had her for a few years and she would have been getting old when we got her (free to good home) she is my longest living pet :) She has outlived a bunny and a guinea pig! Who both unfortunatly died at young ages :(

Oh O.K. it's just I know of a parasite that causes weight lose but I would think it would have cause her problems long before now. Try Burgess Excel Junior food. O0

She has been losing weight for a long time now :-\ I'm trying to save to get Wilson neautered and am wanting to take her to the bets! I cant stand to see her suffer like this anymore :'(

Has she got any other health issues such as hind limb weakness, urinary incontinence or loss of balance ? ?

yes she is a bit clumsy sometimes... wen she is wet she falls over a bit because her hair gets very heavy when wet so I have stopped bathing her... She has a cage mate... he is a big fatty, everything seems normal with him :)

O.K. she may have a parasite that lives in the body cells of the host or she could just be old. If you would like to know more I will send you a sheet explaining everything about it. :)

That would be great thankyou!

Just read your previous post more clearly... er, I guess her back legs are a bit weak... she does wet herself sometimes... I think without meaning to and yes she does fall over only when wet...

Is there a cure for this parisite?

THANKYOU! So much!

There is not a cure but things can be done to make her more comfortable and live the rest of her life as normal. Many rabbits have it but it only effects some, I only found out about it because my rabbit was like yours but sadly it was to late but I am trying to make more rabbit owners aware of this horrible little parasite. How do I send you the sheet? :)

er... you can PM me if you like...

at the top of the page it says... "Hey, ____ You have ___ new messages...."
click on ___ new messages then click 'new message' and go from there :) (new message will be found at the left hand side of the page in a margain)

Lolhope that helped :)

Thankyou so much (again;D)

I've think I have sent it to you, there is quite a bit of information, I hope she hasn't got this but if she has, I hope it can help. O0

Yep ive got it! Thankyou so much! I have about $50 so ill arrange to get her to the vets :)

Thankyou! Thankyou! Thankyou! :D

No problem just promise me if anyone else tells you anything like the symptoms you will let them know about this parasite. O0

Yep promise :) I would hate to see a bunny suffer...
I'm only half way through reading that PM ;D its very interesting... I'm in Australia... do you know if the parisite is over here? I guess it would be...

So would you suggest taking Peter to the vets... blood test? What else?
Sorry so many questions ;D

I would guest they could have it in Australia. I would have blood test just to rule it out, I can't say what happens in the end if they have the parasite it would just upset me to much.

Ok thankyou :) Ill talkto mum about it and get her to a vet soon :)

I wish there was a cure! Is there anything I can do for her if she does have it?

Thanks!

I believe the vets could give you a wormer suitable for rabbits that will allow her to live a normal life, I am not sure how often you have to use it but first of all you have to make sure she has this. She may not but she might, don't hold me to it. :)

Okay thanks :) I hope she doesnt have it and has somthing curable... Ill let you know how the vets go (ill PM you :)) Not sure when I'm going to go but...

Thanks again!
