Well now Boris is out of the woods, he is eating absolutely anything, fruit, veggies, pellets and drinking plenty water... But the big problem is his teeny and doesnt seem to be putting any weight on, does anyone have any ideas on something I could give to him for a quick plump up? He is desperate to get back to the herd but he still seems so slight I am not too happy about putting him back until he is rounder! ::)

Any help appreciated! :)

When i went to get my piggies at a rescue centre the lady was showing me the food she feeds them. She said that Burgess supa excell guinea pig food was what all the piggies love but it made them fat, so she only gives it to ill(but recovering), underweight and pregnant piggies. Perhaps you could use that?

Hope i helped O0

Wow didn't know that I feed Exel would explain why Fleur and Sunshine have rolls! :o ;D

Can't suggest anything other than maybe giving him more veggies and the Excel if it does make them put on weight. Some pigs are naturally smaller though. :)

Coffee is currently 100g and i think she's below 3 weeks... although the pet shop says she's 3 weeks.
oh well, but as suggested by friendly piggie owners of this forum.. it seems that oxbow cavy performance is good =) alfalfa pellets. t
they loves it! hehe.. yuup, gave it to my another piggie sugar too.. since he is also a small baby boy =) bt abt 3mths.. bigger than Coffee~

Well what he is on at the moment is pets at home pellets a big bowl of, veggies and fruit and also plenty hay!? So you think the burgess supa excel is more fattening!?? He is looking really healthy and bright compard to what he was about a month ago when I thought he was on a short trip to the bridge, just a little bit on the skinny side... All my other piggies are plump, if you think he might just be like that naturally he can go back in the herd if not will keep the fattening up!

Thanks ;)

i thought supa excel and p@h pellets were made by same people? or am i a complete 98)

I've personally never fed my piggies supa excel, its just what the rescue woman told me.

They might be, as supa excel and Own brand is all that they sell isnt it?

Yes I think they are made by the same people. and I think their nutritional content is pretty similar.

As long as he is eating and not loosing weight i wouldn't worry about it. Some pigs are naturally smaller than others.

You could try cavy performance for a while. However as it is alfalfa based it is only good for babies and pregnant saws. Alfalfa contains high level of calcium and can cause stones in adult piggies.

Yep they are the same just a different shape to the excel. :)

I thought they sold pink bags cant rememer the brand and some others too... My vet recommends Burgess excel... I don't know if they would recommend a pet shops stuff?!?!? ::)

He is still under a year so might manage... ? Where would I get cavy perfomance?

Thanks ;)
