Hi Guys,

One of my boars has a lump under his nipple and it has been there for several months now. I was advised by our vet to monitor the lump which is very solid, and has not grown. There is a smaller lump just up from the nipple lump which has also not grown. I'm going to have the big lump tested next week however for peace of mind now. I have lost several piggies to cancer before, but this lump seems a little different and I've never had a pig with a fatty lump. Can someone please give me an idea of their texture? And is it known/possible for fatty lumps to grow under the nipple? The lump has no discharge.

Thanks everyone.

Sorry this thread got missed, lots of lumps can luckily be fatty lumps. As you are doing getting them checked over by the vet is the only cause of action. Please let us know how you get on and hoping for good news

All lumps should be checked especially those under the nipple. Your vet should be able to carry out a fine needle biopsy which is not invasive.

They’re difficult to explain but fatty lumps are free moving and not attached to anything. They don’t usually feel solid.

My Edward has several which two were tested with a fine needle biopsy. They haven’t changed in a year but we are to monitor them.

He has one in his armpit which may need removing in the future of it grows and affects his movement but like I say, it has grown in a year
