Do you have a favourite memory of a beloved piggie who has passed on? I would LOVE to read it. I would like to share mine:
Approximately seven years ago, my son convinced me to allow him to adopt a small brown/red guinea pig from the store. At that time, I did not care for guinea pigs at all and warned him that he would have to bond, pet, play with her (I would clean the cage and feed her, etc.). He agreed and he did very well, considering he was only seven years old. Well, very soon after we adopted Chocolate, I had to have the first of many surgeries on my wrist. While I was recovering at home, I decided that she needed to have some loving during the day and that I would pick her up and give her some. For the next two weeks, we were inseparable. I would pick her up any time I was in the living room area (which was most of the time). She began to trust me and started to show me love. Her favourite perch was to sit on top of my boobs and warble to me. Then she displayed a new behaviour that made me feel so lucky and blessed. If another person was holding her while seated on the couch and I sat next to that person, Chocolate would run up to their shoulder (the one near me), walk to the edge of the shoulder and then JUMP onto me! Each and every time! Didn't matter who was holding her first, she always came to me. Ever since she started to do that, I fell in love with these furry little bundles of love. Chocolate passed away this past July of old age and I cried very hard. However, I didn't mourn for very long because I knew she loved me and I knew she knew I loved her. Chocolate, thank you very much for being the piggie love of my life! x>>
