Feeding Dried 'just Grass'-is It A Treat?

Hi all I normally buy a bale of 'Just Grass' which is a horse product & is what it says......just grass dried
The man @ the pet shop said that it could be fed instead of hay & was much better for guinea pigs than hay.......I didn't take that advice & only feed it as a treat
My piggies love it though & now that I have increased my piggie numbers I'm wondering if I can feed it more often?
Advice plz?
They always have hay available but should I give them a few handfuls of this & no hay?

I give mine this but as a treat along side hay a couple of tines a week, they like it but not as much as their hay though.I always had the idea it would be too rich for them on its own? Sorry ,Not really an answer for you is it!?

A lot of forum members use "Readigrass" - which is dried grass. I can't comment on the type of dries grass you use but Readigrass should only be given as a treat. Readigrass is high calorie and high calcium . I would imagine the dried grass you have is similar ...

I also only feed Readigrass as a treat and in small amounts, just a pinch for each pair of piggies.

Thank you-I thought that was probably the cases & that's why I don't give it to them all the time/instead of hay
They LOVE it though so I thought I would check to see if the man at the pet shop was right or not.......didn't want to deprive them of something they could have more often

I got a sample of readigrass and my piggys loved it. I bought a small bag and they seemed to have gone off it. It looked really green so it must have lots of chemicals it in. I'm not feeding it to them again. I would only give about a handful a day or less.

I'm thinking this may be why the 3 piggies I got from a shelter were all little fatties.... There was a big bowl of stuff which they said was readigrass!
