Just wondering if there was any advice out there about feeding dental piggies/lethals or piggies with problems.

Hamish is eating ok i think. His weight is comparable with Angus' and he seems to be nomming through piles and piles of hay.

I just wondered as the vet check yesterday revealed he had a lot of food in his cheeks and his rear molars are a little sharp but I've to take him back in a few months when he's grown a bit for another check.

I don't want him to struggle so I need a plan in place just in case. I've got plenty of Critical care etc in the house anyway and I've heard sugar free/organic baby food is also a possibility from time to time?!

I will monitor his weight closely and watch him eat and he can have Critical care top ups if he needs it. Is soft food better than pellets?

His incisiors are good so no issues there at the moment.

Any advice appreciated.

All piggies have mushed food in there mouths - the vet can not give a dental piggy an accurate exam without cleaning there mouths out.

Just because he had gunk in his mouth does not mean he's got dental problems. Have you never noticed when you have a piggy out them chewing on your lap without you giving them food, that's in there mouth already :)).

Weigh your piggy and you won't go wrong - Weekly. Any illness in my pigs have always shown in there weight including dental problems.

Good point! Merry spits all his spare food up the syringe when I give him his metacam each night so i ought to have known that....

Weighing is going to be top priority. Getting a ntebook on the way home to keep a record. Memory isn't good enough to not write it down!
