This has just come up elsewhere and I wanted to see what others do!

Do you feed your piggies veg from the fridge? Or do you let it come to room temperature?

In 12 years it has never occured to me to bring veg to room temperature, and my piggies have never had a problem. Just interested!?

I'm new to looking after guinea pigs... But I didn't even know there's a difference. I have the veg from the fridge.

interesting, I never thought about it either, I keep my veggies in the fridge as well before I give it to them.

I take the veg out of the fridge before I do my own breakfast. Then it has a bit of time to warm up while I have my breakfast.

I have always taken it out the fridge when needed. Leaving at room temp for a while could make the greens wilt!

I usually give it from the fridge and have done for the 4 years Ive had my piggies. I recently read something similar and if I have time I take it out a bit before but it doesn't always work out as the girls are up begging at me to give it to them now! Haha

I sometimes do and sometimes don't! Though I treat them just te same as me, if I'll eat it then its good enough for them but if I won't (eg- been in the floor, got crumbed off bread board or something) then I don't give it to them. Hasn't don't my piggies any harm either way

I have alway fed them veggies straight from the fridge x

Thank goodness! I thought it was me! I'd just never considered it a problem!

I've never left mind to sit either, I take it straight from the fridge :)

I remember reading on this forum a long time ago that veg should be at room temperature - I remember reading that cold veg could upset their tummies. Since reading that thread , I've tried to take their veg out of the fridge for a while before preparing their meal - but it is difficult. I'm usually late for work !

Most of time I will take the veg out about 10mins befor I give them it x

Exactly this. I didn't read it in here, but yeah, I read that somewhere and since then, in winter, I wait before giving Teddy the pepper, because I find it quite cold even for me...

i think i read that thread too
i always take the girls veg out of the fridge & let it get to room temperature or close to it. i usually prepare it leave it out & put the rest back in the fridge to keep it fresh for them :)

i used to have the girls in a hutch in the shed in winter & thought they would need all their energy to keep them warm-without chilling them from the inside too:blink:
they're indoors at the moment, but i didn't want to upset their stomachs by giving cold food --- I can't stand ice-cream headaches either ;)

actually i run over it with warm water or drop their cucumber in warm water to take the chill off, if i'm in a hurry! Spoilt or what?!?!

I always feed straight from the fridge, it's fresher then.

I treat the food like I'm going to eat it, even though I dislike the taste of some of the veggies so I wouldn't want to eat them anyway (such as brocolli). :P
