Hi,

I have an adult pig and will soon be the proud owner of a 6-7 week old girl we are adopting.

I'd appreciate advice on what is safe/isn't safe to feed the youngster and any special needs they'd have beyond what I'm currently feeding.

Our adult gets;
Timothy Hay (Dust extracted)
Burgess Excel Guinea pig nuggets
Various veg twice daily (Eg mixed lettuce - no iceberg, celery - chopped up well, peppers, fennel, fresh herbs, cucumber, carrot, parsnip, green beans etc)
Occasional fruit (Eg apple, pear.)

They can eat all adult food from day one as a baby. I would introduce fruit/veggies slowly though as not to upset the little ones tummy. And you can also feed a bit of alfafa hay as this has plenty of calcium in. Great for growing bones. But not too much.

x.

Boston grew up with adults and have never been fed baby Guineapigs foods or get the extras apart from the adults, and he's still growing at 6 months old - Already a whooping 796g! :)

Great stuff, I can feed the newbie just like I feed my big girl. 8) I thought I'd need to worry over correct balance of this and that for the smaller one or size of various foods etc. This is gonna be easier than I thought.
