... or hit my head agains something hard...mallethead

We've had soe issues in Sweden with "rescues" started by animal loving girls in their teens or twenties who soon feel everything building up. One case ended with the girl locking the door on the animals who starved to death (some ten bunnies, hamsters, piggies and gerbils) another with the girl listing them on a reptiles site as live feed (all those were rescued by real rescues).

Now there's a new kid in town. I read a post on a piggie forum about how she wanted ideas for rescue names. The Swedish on the webpage is so terrible that most second graders would do a better job with spelling. Even the domain is misspelled! I know there are many who struggle with dyslexia, but there are spell checks and friends!

But that's just a webpage, right, I won't judge her on spelling when the love and ability to care for animals is what's important!

So she got two piggies for rehoming... and listed them with full breeder names, comments about things that were less desirable with their looks and "£40 or bid".

Give me strength...

Sounds like the genuine rescues will be busy again picking up the messes of good hearted idiots. mallethead

why can't people just volunteer in established rescues instead of setting up more with no knowledge?

OUCH!

Do you want me to send a wall or a mallet to Sweden for you to use? mallethead

No... Send Ffion! She can help me bite the stupid girl!

What's amusing in the whole terrible thing is that she thinks she'll be able to make money out of piggie rescuing... :))

Sorry, Ffion won't bite, but she can certainly explain things VERY clearly!

I'm not sure whether I find that amusing or so sad!

Just thought, if she is listing '£40 or Bid' then technically she is both selling and auctioning the 'livestock'. because of this, are there not regulations she must abide by? if she was in uk then she would need a livestock auction license (i think). or a standard council license to sell animals.
i thought this was why most rescues 'suggested a donation', to get round these legal boundaries.
please correct me if i'm talking bunkum

I don't think we have those kinds of regulations in Sweden, at least not for small pets. I only hope no animals will get hurt in her venture, and yes, proper rescues are standing by...

She doesn't seem to have a permit to run her rescue yet though and this we have laws for. The law only cares about the suitability of the place though, not if you adopt out for breeding.
