I only lost my darling Poppy recently, aged 7, since then I noticed my neighbours have had a run on the grass & was praying they hadn't got piggies (sad I know :red) anyway there was a tiny wooden box in the run, & one day I noticed there were indeed two piggies on the grass. I was slightly upset as I am still in mourning for mine, but I decided not to look too much over the fence, but this family have 2 dogs, & 2 cats, one of which takes pleasure in torturing little baby birds in Springtime :o

Anyway I don't know if they have a hutch or not? There was a man there last week mowing the grass right up to the run! Now since the hot weekend the run has gone.... I am worried sick they died in the heat on Sunday/Monday 8... am I being stupid for caring/worrying about this?

No not at all, I would have been very worried too. Do you speak to your neighbour much? if so I would try an drop it into conversation, see if you can find out any information (although if that DID happen this could be added torture mallethead).

Other than that I would suggest you put it right out of your mind, I have the same problem when i see animals for re homing in PAH, you have to remember you cant save them all I'm afraid.

Are you hoping to get some more in the future?

Oh and VERY sorry for your loss i meant to add. It never gets any easier so I do feel for you xx

Thank you, I am not sure I want to know as I don't know if I could cope with the feelings at the moment if you see what I mean?

We do talk to them, but there were issues when they first moved in, a lady reported them to the RSPCA for leaving their 2 dogs outside in the really harsh snow we had about 2 years ago, they would bark non-stop (I guess that kept them warm!) & they thought it was us that did it :red

I have been searching all the Rescue sites but I don't want piggies that are too old, really a year or less, as I don't want them to die on me after a few months as I couldn't cope with that, I get too attached. The last one that we lost, she was only 4, Poppy's friend, & I cried non stop for about a week! I've only ever had girlies, not sure I could cope with boy's hormones & bits lol :)

It's awful isn't it? The dilemma I can see is that if * do find out they have piggies then you'll be wondering how they cared for but turning a blind eye makes you feel bad too. I would day keep your eyes peeled and give them the benefit of the doubt, you COULD be worrying over nothing. Think 'see no evil, hear no evil'

With regards to rescues, I'm not sure of your area but the potteries guinea pig rescue and wind whistle warren rescue often have young pigs. And don't be disheartened by 4! That's reasonable, people say they can live 4/7 years, I have had 2 live to 8 but 5 is average. Good luck looking and let us know how * get on x

Oh love of course it's ok to think like that.........obviously knowing what these neighbours are like! :...
I too hope that the little ones are now inside or gone to another persons home :...

Your little Poppy sounds like she was indeed a lovely little character, you do get very attached to them x)x)x)
