I have been so excited about changing my boys bedding to fleece. Today I managed to get the brand new fleece washed twice and dried. I spent ages making a newspaper pattern of the hutch floors so I could then cut towel and fleece to the right shape. I have kept fitch and hay in the bedroom upstairs and in the logs downstairs as that is where they pee the most so it is easier to clean out. The boys usually sit and sleep out in the open but since the fleece went in they have been hiding in the bedroom! :{mallethead

And there was me hoping for lots of popcorning and happiness! rolleyes

Do not worry. It is only because they are not used to it. They will come round. Piggies are very cautious. I thought fleece had to be washed and dried three times not twice.

I read it was 2-3 times and I was far too excited to do it 3 times. hopefully it will be ok. will be changing it on Saturday anyway

If you're lucky they won't even make a wet mess on the fleece like my boys :)) It saves on washing, although I do change the fleece every week. It took the boys a few days to appreciate the fleece.

Don't worry!

By the way, I'd probably use a towel to put under the fleece, as the newspaper sticks to the fleece, and, of course, where is the wee supposed to drain to once it's gone to the fleece? It'll soak through below the newspaper!

That's what I am hoping for which is why I have stuck with the fitch in the high pee and poo areas

Yup - I have newspaper, towel and fleece down.

Ahhhhhhh - we might have success - they are both lying curled up on the fleece!

Ahh, ok, I was worried there for a second, thought you just had newspaper down!

You can never rush a piggy. They always seem to work to their own agenda. Love to see some pigtures of Barney and Toby in action in their new fleece :))

Barney is playing roadkill now - totally sprawled on his side, on the fleece - chooken leg n all! We have a winner!

Toby is eating poo!

Aww! Yes, it's quite strange them eating their own poo, but, unfortunately it's normal!

will try to take some tomorrow when it is lighter. They are in the corner of the room furthest away from the light.

See, they have got used to it. Chooken legs is the highest order of praise indeed :))

Yes, it is quite grim yet also amusing - Barney loses his poos quite regularly during sofa time and spends lots of time spinning in circles trying to find them again.

That made me laugh! Our Angelina spends most of her lap time doing poops and then eating them, but like you say, some of them go astray! I have to helpfully point them out to her! Except for the ones that have rolled down and disappeared under the sofa cushions, of course!

lolll! sounds like piggies. at least they are enjoying the fleece enough to sprawl out on it now! i think every pig must love a soft fleece, i do too!

Just wait until you change the fleece, mine always popcorn like mad when I do the weekly change! If you find hay sticks to the fleece, rub it against a brick wall ;)

I don't get how to use fleece. Is it any fleece from a shop? Does it not smell if they wee on it?

I bought fleece throws from ikea for £1.60 and cut them down to size. The hutch is then lined with newspaper and towel with fleece on top. I think that any bedding you use will smell when it is wee'd on. It just means that you have to wash the fleece and towel. I only started using it yesterday so will see how it goes. Apparently, putting vinegar in the wash removes a lot of the odour.
