Well my 8 piggies are being brought over to London from Northern Ireland by my boyfriend who is coming over to live here as well. I have missed them so much. I haven't seen them in 3 months. Anyway we have a mouse problem and the landlord arranged for the pest control man to come on saturday. I tried the humane traps with no luck and the pest man said that if you do catch them alive and release you will be sending to them to their death.

He has laid down posion bait traps and I feel just terrible. It's the thought of the way that they will suffer. But my main worry was having my piggies here and them contracting an illness from the mice. I hate to have to think of the mice suffering in such a way. I'm temp flat sharing so the others wanted them delt with in this way. Feel like a right hypocrite, being an animal lover an all.

Ah that's a tuff one, but you have to put your piggies first. They need to be safe from catching disease from the mice (if that's even possible), but at the end of the day, they spread disease and you don't want them in your nice clean home. I would feel bad also, but you have to remember that this is for your 8 babies!

That's what I was thinking too. As house mice do carry diseases and I couldn't cope he something happened to them because of this. I know mice bite when hungry and they would probably smell the guinea pigs food and get into there c&c cages.

Yeah, I'd agree that you're doing the right thing.
We had mice once in our old house, and we had no luck with the humane traps either. The mice just weren't dumb enough to fall for them!

And you're right- they are very likely to go into your guinea pigs' cages. There's lots of tasty food and nice, warm hay in there.

It isn't nice to think of any animals suffering, but the animals that you intentionally brought into your home are the ones that you are responsible for, so they take priority over any uninvited guests.

Not to mention the risks the mice pose to you and the other people living in your house!

Thanks guys. You have put my mind at rest. Well since the posion has been put down there have been no mice sightings. I have hradly slept since I seen one go right under a closed door and I have been sleeping with the light on and being really jumpy. And yes my fur babies come first!

its not only diseases they can carry, its the damage they can cause to the house, which can be very costly to repair
