Went to the council today and have found out that we will be sharing our garden with 3 other families. This now means that I have to give up my 3 guinea pigs. I am gutted as we cant house them inside as we have 2 dogs as it is. I just cant stop crying, I have come from having pigs of my own to rescuing them to nothing. I thought that we would have only to share with downstairs flat.
I cant even think of a life without my pigs, just feel as if my heart is broken.

Mary

I am sorry to hear this Mary. My 86 year old great aunt is kind of going through the same thing with her garden. She has had it to herslef fir 20 years but now the council have decided that she should share it with the upstairs flat, but she has direct access from her living room and now feels like she can't open her back door or even curtains. It's not right but apparently there's nothing we can do - she wants to put in for a transfer now :'(

Could you not have them in a cage indoors? that is dog proof?

Oh Mary am so sorry. Big hugs

Have you mentioned it to the other families? They might like pets :)

There is two flats and two massonetes that share a garden. Then there is a low fench then another two flats and two massonetes and so on. So anyone could get at the pigs from kids dogs and their friends. There just isnt enough space to have them in side. We have 3 children and 2 dogs and a very old cat, it wouldnt be fair on them. I just wouldnt have the space for a cage for 3 of them and then have the space for them to run around.

what about making space indoors with a cc run which can be divided off with a grid and then a run outside that you can watch over, personally I would find a way shame you haven't got a loft or celler Just clutching at anything here lol good luck where theres a will theres a way

Oh I know. Am so sorry

Have you been able to get into the new flat yet to check all the nooks and crannies? Someone one here, Nikki I think, has made cages in a cupboard space - maybe that would be an option? Just trying to find ways around it for you.... :-\

I would think there is always somewhere to fit 3 piggies in, it might not be palatial but is there any guarantee that when they go to their new home they'll have any better. I agree with Michelle, an indoor cage and an outdoor run for supervised exercise. It would be such a shame to rehome them imo

One of my vets will be taking them and she has a small holding
