Hi. My Joshua is 1 year old, delivered 3 piggies 4 weeks ago and all were well. I separated the 2 sons and they are living with their dad, Joshua is living with her daughter. Lately, she's been lying down quite a lot and sometimes chewing her own hair. She's eating and popping fine. Should I be concerned? Is this normal?

Guinea pigs barber (chew hair) for all sorts of reasons so a vet check would be a good idea in case there is a health issue going on.

Barbering ( Eating Hair)

As an aside, keeping three males together can be problematic. Trios of males very rarely work out. The Male babies will likely to be ok living with their dad for now, in fact it is important that they are with other piggies while they are young so they can learn how to be a piggy, but once the youngsters reach teenage months (4 months to 14 months) you are likely to start seeing dominance issues and the probability of having to separate them.

Ah well, I had 1 male (Moses) and 1 female guinea pig (Joshua) so she got pregnant by Moses. I separated them already.

Any change in behaviour I’d recommend getting a vet check.
