My male pig, has been growing like crazy, and is roughly 2 weeks older than a female I got after him (separated) and she's around the 6 week mark, and he's probably 8 weeks roughly. I do the daily veggies with a ton of variety including some fruits if they'll eat them, in equal portions for both of their identical food bowls, same pellets for both, tons of Timmy hay (recently started adding alfalfa as both are young) and she's barely grown despite eating as much as him along with plenty of Vit. C. Her droppings are still WAY smaller as well vs. his massive pellet-like logs he's spits out like they were coming off a conveyor belt. She has no bulge in the rear/sides and shouldn't be pregnant though her rear hips seem a tad wide when she's compact vs. her shoulders. If she stretches out on my lap (trying to mimic a ferret ;)), she's a little over 9", but standing and compacted, she's maybe 6"? Male seems to be around 8" compacted and probably weighs twice as much as her.

While I'm thinking she might have been a runt, the fact she can seemingly eat as much as the male, while not really growing or putting on weight, has me curious how normal that might be? Even her feet are staying dainty, like Wilma Flinstone feet. She's definitely nimble and runs through her piping sections like a hopped up hamster, so she might have a high metabolism, but just so dainty.

There is a wide range of normal sizes for guinea pigs... my first pair of pigs resulted in one big three-pound sow with a little peanut who never reached two pounds, even though they ate the same food, etc. The big one was just built big... broad head, big feet, wide shoulders, and the little one was just very petite, with a small bone structure, little feet, etc. The pair I have now is very similar- both adult females, one about three pounds and one about half that size. Both are healthy, just built totally differently.

Ah, OK. Guess she's gonna probably be a petite little piglet then. Does their size play a factor with dominance within a female herd? Or is is it more seniority based?

Had several cats years back (all males) with an ex-gf and the last one we got was the same way. He stayed about the size of a 2 month old kitten, which was actually interesting as he was apparently a dwarf cat. TBH, I'm surprised that hasn't been capitalized yet like small dog breeds have been.

I have learned that size means nothing to piggies. I have a trio, two of whom are brothers. One of the brothers is almost 1000g, and the other never gets to the 800g mark - guess who's top piggy? The smout!

That's really interesting. Wonder what the deciding factor is amongst them? Strongest hormone scent? Posturing?

It's neither size or seniority (age.) It's all down to personality. Some pigs have a drive to be the boss, others absolutely do not. Two really assertive pigs may not get along as neither of them is willing to give up the fight!
