This may be a really dumb question but I have two female piggies and while picking one of them up, I felt a soft area on her bum. Looking closer, I see the area left and right of her anus is swollen as if there's water in there. When I press it, she doesn't seem to be in discomfort but googling only sent me to pages about male piggies. The other piggy has a "normal" behind with no swollen part so my question is: is this normal? They're both quite young (just a few months old).

Oh great <.< That means I'll have to separate them if that's true and I got a huge case for the both of them.

I think @Tim may be right  A photo would be awesome if you can get one! And then you could always consider neutering him so he can live with his sow wife again :)

Well I used the link above and yeah, I think "she" is a male <.< Bless the pet shop for checking for me. Funny thing is, he is submissive towards the female, wiggling his ass all the time. I'll take them both to the vet to be sure and have him neutered if that's the case.

EDIT: I would post a picture but her/his ass is completely black and it's hard holding her/him and taking a pic at the same time.

Oh bless him! Keep an eye on your lady pig, she may well be preggers :hmm:
I got no place to separate them in sadly :S I'll have to hurry and make that appointment. I don't want to stick one in a tiny box or cage for a week. They've been together for a few months now - I hope one more week won't "get it done".

I strongly recommend you separate them until they have been to the vets. Can you put a divider in the cage so they can still chat and see each other? Even after neutering, they wouldn't be able to be put straight back in together, usually takes about 6 weeks I think.

My vet said to keep them separate for 8 weeks and I did it for 9 just to make sure! I was having NO more surprise babies!

Well, my piggies never really wanted to jump off a 10cm ledge but they sure as hell will jump 30cm OVER the seperation to get together <.<. Silly . Time for plan B.
