My sweet cavy baby , Rozii (aka Wuzzy, wuzzicles, wuzzicleese, or cheese wheeze) is honestly the best thing to ever happen to our family. My special needs daughter has a relationship with her like no other and my night time routine with her just melts my heart. Today my daughter noticed a skin tag looking thing on Rozii's belly. Upon further investigation she appears to only have one....and its darker brown and is in the same spot that a nipple should be so i dont know if its a nipple or a skin tag. ALSO like i mentioned there is only one. She is approx 6 months old now and upon inspection of her belly I cant feel ANY other nipples... there looks like theres nothing no tiny bumps or anything just one skin tag looking nipple thing so if anyone can give me some advice that would be great. Will her other ones develop eventually or could this be something other than a nipple....i will attempt to get some pictures but she hates being held on her back but will do my best....
Oh also when palpitating around it to see if she was painful in the area she made a loud squeak and bit my daughter quite hard....so it does seem to be bothering her a little ... Very worried about my baby cavy wavy Rozii......i love her so much .. My days would not be complete anymore if i didnt get my wuzzy kisses and snuggles and lovins. She kisses my fingers til my fingers are wet with kisses....she purrs and loves to rub her face on my hands and cheeks and loves having her little chin rubbed. She is the best ever. I just want her to be okay <3

Don’t hold her on her back when taking the photo. Hold her with her back against your tummy and supported. Otherwise the only thing I can think of is maybe the other nipple just isn’t as pronounced.

Does she have a friend? They really shouldn’t live alone - no amount of human interaction can replace a companion of their kind. If she does then I apologise and ignore all that. We’d love pigtures ☺️

you I took a better look at her and we did find the second nipple they just are unusually long in my opinion.

And yes i totally understand that people say u need to have 2 cavies .... Rozii is very content for the time being. We are on the look out for a 2nd baby girl to be her friend but we wanted to get one used to us and the kids as both my daughter and son have special needs before we tried to take on two. We didnt want any accidents or find that we couldnt afford 2 or something . we do have a 2nd cage now and have everything set up to start to introduce a friend to her. Shes a very quiet piggy and she's very loving and snuggly. I worry she will get jealous when we do get a new one if my daughter starts spending more time with the new little babe. Any advice other than the obvious of making sure to spend just as much time if not more with rozii at first so she knows we still love and cherish her too and so she doesnt feel like shes being replaced. But any other things i can do to ensure both of them are happy when we do get her friend?

Thanks so much
Laurie

P.s. and I tried the holding her on her back thing for the pic only cause she loves laying on her back for tummy rubs so i tried to see if that was easier on her as she fusses real bad and seems to hate it when i have her facing away from me standing against my belly. We discovered how much she loves her belly rubs and laying on her back for them when we trimmed her nails the one time. She was flipping out when I was holding her against my stomach so my daughter was like lay her down for belly rubs while u do her nails see if she likes that. So we tried it and voila :) but anyways I thot I got the picture but guess it didn't auto save but i will get one when i bring her out again in a bit. I feel silly now that i found the 2nd one and know they are her nipples lol but at first glance without seeing another one I panicked a little

Thanks for understanding how much we parents of cavies love our babies so much that any tiny thing its like OMG HELP.

(This also explains why she does not wanna be touched there....no one likes their nipples poked and prodded at so she prob was just sensitive at the time :) )

I attached a pic of her at Halloween so y'all can see how beautiful my little wuzz wuzz is :)

Piggies need to be in pairs, and it’s not fair to take on just the one. One more isn’t particularly more expensive to feed. The area you need to think about is a vet fund - I hope you started one when you got your girl. Vet fees can be very expensive.

The best way to find Wuzzy a friend would be to take her to a rescue where they can let her pick her own friend. The piggy would be already health checked, not pregnant and the sex checked. If you put your location in your profile then we can let you know of rescues near you.

If you went and got a piggy from a pet shop, the issue would be that you can’t know whether the newbie will get on with your girl. They also (quite frequently) come pregnant or are missexed. You’d also have to quarantine newbie before you can put her with tour Wuzzy - just to make sure she hasn’t come with any communicable diseases.

Make sure that the cage is 120x60cm at least (as it should be for your girl - that is the minimum size for two sows, even one piggy). You should have at least two of everything - bowls, hides, bottles, hay piles. I will link some threads below for you to have a read through.

Please be sure to try and get her a friend as soon as possible. They really do sooo much better when they have company of someone who understands them. She may be very cuddly with you but you don’t speak her language. She needs that 24/7 company.

:agr: Please don’t ever put her on her back. It’s really not safe to do that. She absolutely does need a friend. She may seem ok, but she will be going about survival rather than thriving. It’s essential they are in pairs.

Regarding the nipple, please see a vet if you are worried.

@ScarredAngel Costumes on piggies can be a bit scary for them. While it's fun for children to do, it's stressful for the piggy. I completely understand where your coming from though, with trying to let your children interact with them. Something that they'd have fun doing is making a little piggy town. You can cut windows doors, ramps, tunnels, etc. out of cardboard boxes. If you make sure your piggy doesn't eat the cardboard, you can even have them use non toxic markers to decorate the boxes. I think your kids would have fun watching your little piggy explore the obstacles and hideys :D
