Hi guys,

The time has come. Rufus & Rodney have not only eaten me out of house & home, but they have now outgrown their first batchelor pad.

I think alot of people on here have the Ferplast 120, are we all agreed this is a good buy before I go ahead & click away?

Thanks,

Pam (And the boys of course!) xoxo

Size wise it is a good cage, I've never had one though so don't know if they are or not. Sorry.

I had it and yes its a good cage..we built a 2nd level on top too.

This one is the same size as ferplast 120...and is cheaper, I think?

I had the ferplast 100 when the boys were very young, and I must admit that I think the ferplast looks and feels better quality. However, the skyline maxi does the same job, and is still going strong 6months later, no signs of cracking plastic or anything breaking.

I really like the design of the Ferplast 120, as the front sections hinge upwards it allows very good access for picking the piggies up - and cleaning out is much easier as you don't have to take the top off to be able to get to the whole cage. I find the Skyline Maxi's door to be so small reaching from it to the furthest corners is not easy - and of course that's where the piggies sit when they are being naughty.

The Ferplast would be my cage of choice!

Hi,

I have the ferplast 120 and it is a good, sturdy cage. It has two openings at the front, and these open the whole front of the cage up:))

I've just been looking at these too and was wondering if the 'ramp' in it extended for the piggies to get up to the little ridge bit?

As per Suzy, this is why I liked mine, the front opens for perfect access.
I had one and upgraded to a c&c but yeah they're great cages. I personally prefer to take out the plastic level for more room and my piggies weren't using it either :)

Yeah, we took our plastic bit out too, makes it more roomier...

I think will be difficult to service it and normally they more expensive then have 2x100.Wwe used to keep our boar in 2x100cm cages and I cant sure was enough for him.So for 2 pigs 1x120cm cage is definitely will be prison, unless you will get them floor time on daily basis.

The ramp does not extend, but mine never used it. The platform is low enough for them to just hop up if they don't have mobility problems, so they just jumped on and off it. :)

I always left that platform in; they slept under it so didn't need any additional hideys and all their food went on top of it so they didn't need a separate feeding station. I therefore didn't find it a space constraint at all.

The Ferplasts are super easy to clean etc. and because the whole side opens up it's pretty easy to catch squirrely pigs. They're about 10cm less than they say, however, as their measurements include the lip round the cage, and I think the sides slope a little as well. If your pigs get daily floor/run time they're great, but otherwise I think even the 120 is a little small for two full-grown boars to be in for days at a time.

I agree with spinningnickel. A bit too small for 2 boars. I got a 120 ferplast for my two and even at 14 weeks I could see it was going to be too small. Only one pig at the mo in it but I actually have 2 120 cages which I am going to attach together. You might want to look at the sticky in housing for inspiration xx

All of mine are 120 cages :) and are all happy little piggies!

I don't really agree with calling them a prison Kotov. This will just make people panic who have their piggies in a 120. There is nothing wrong with a 120 cage. It's the minimum size and is very popular.

Some piggies may need more space which I'm sure owners can decide if it's needed.

I find my cages so easy to clean!

If you can go bigger then that is great! But a 120 is suitable and Is very popular on the forum. I just don't have the space for bigger cages.

120 all the way for me!

Wow this is an old post of mine! And how sad that I have now lost one of my little boys since I posted it :(

My boys loved the ferplast and didn't use the ramp - they just jumped up to the ledge it isn't high & they enjoyed it hugely.

Only reason I have gone c&c is because I lost a boy & have a new boar & wanted a bit more room in case they argued...

it is an old post pamelakt lol. btw I didnt mean it to sound like 120 ferplast werent any good because they are but in hind sight starting from scratch I would have got a 140 ferplast. Just for the falling out factor. Mine had already started to get on each others nerves after 2 weeks! lol

yes,I know it is different situation pig to pig and family to family. If you devoted to saving gp lives rescue them and keep in small cages because what ever reason that's one thing. But if you want another toy and pay in pet in shop that's different story.I'm not blaming people that they keep pigs in small cages,in case they can not afford big one - but people should know that not enough. We rescued one boar who cant walk because who lived in small cage.
He died even my wife and me manually feed him 3 times of day 180 days.We been told due to cancer - but who knows why.Very suitable reason for everyone.Cancer, you can not blame anyone. But I still not sure.Sorry.
