So i have pretty much decided on getting a ferplast rabbit 140 for my 2 piggie boys and just wondered if anyone here had one? would love to know your thoughts and reviews on this cage before buying it-dont want to end up regretting anything! lol

the size is massive and exactly what I'm looking for for them but basically wanted to know how sturdy it was and how easy it is to use the front panel as a door? the cage will be on the floor so il be able to use the top doors too.

Thanks in advance:)

i love my ferplast(i have a smaller one think its the 100?)
Its easy to clean and light enough to move.

i have 2 of the 140's the doors on the top are annoying. really hard to get piggies out. but great size. the top if so heavy that it breaks the corner brackets. but if your careful should be ok. i love mine regardless :)

I've got one here at the moment - is it the one where both halves of the front open? I agree it's annoying and the top is too heavy (cos no support at the front) and is bending already.

It's a great size but annoying to use

when you day the cage is bending, does that mean that i wouldnt be able to put anything on top of it? i have a freddy 2 cage with a mouse in that i intended to put on top of the pigs cage but doesnt sound like this would be possible:{

here is a link to the cage i mean just so I'm clear lol

any piccies of set ups of people that have them? would love to see:)

Just wanted to update and say i ordered the cage this evening along with some vetbed, cant wait for it all to arrive!:) would love to see piccies of other peoples set ups of this cage to get some ideas?

I have my own two boys in one of these. They love it and I am always adding a changing boxes, pigloos and hammocks etc. so each time I clean it out I move something around, or change something and they have a great time mooching around. Should say though that I rarely use the top opening, even though my boys are very tame, they still have this inbuilt pig thing about things coming at them from above, and run for cover. xx

do you have any piccies?:)would really love to see some set up, i keep imagining how il have it in my head but its not the same as piccies lol

If you dont use the top doors does that mean that the front panel is easy to use as a door? that is how i planned to use it too, i think most piggies dont like anything moving above them really so the front panel door would be perfect.

I'm keeping fingers crossed that it comes quickly, i know they are going to love the extra space:(|)

Front doors are really easy to use, I think different aged cages have different front opening. The entire front of mine opens with two doors, or I can just open half at a time. Haven't got any piccies of this one yet. My boys are very untidy though, lots of space means lots of mess, they love moving stuff around, and I have had to kerb my motherly tidying up instincts cos they seem to have so much fun moving the furniture round! xx

haha well with them going onto vet bed I'm hoping it will be easier to keep clean as we can just get the hoover tube in to get the poops up(obviously when they arent in there! lol) in between cleans.

Are you sure your cage is a 140 like in the link? sorry i know thats a stupid question, its just that i have seen the smaller ferplast cages with the doors like you describe but the one i ordered doesnt have that. it just states that the front panel can be lifted like a door and then there are 2 big doors on top. wish it had the doors like the smaller cages though, sounds so much easierrolleyes

Well I'm an inches person and it's 52" I think, is that about the same? I use vet bed just in the 'main house' I tried it all over but the hay drove me mad getting stuck in it. So now I have newspapers, and a bit of hay in the main area, but hay socks so it doesn't go everywhere. xx

Jane I love your new avatar is it that lovely black rex? He's gorgous! Still not got round to the whole "hay sock" idea but as you said hay is driving me mad and although it is above the litter tray seems to fall more down the side than in it! They are having a full clean out tomorrow so think I will try and replace it. How many do you use for two piggies and how big do you cut the hole in the bottom?

I bought one of these after finally getting fed up with my C&C cage (too messy and took ages to clean, for various reasons!) I've found the same as everyone else really - one of the corner brackets has broken, but it's still useable. It's easy enough to clean, by putting it up on end in the bath.

It hadn't dawned on me about the removal of the front panel - might try that. :)

Two girls can share a haysock, so do my married couple. But any pairs of boys always have a sock each, never had any problems so it must work this way. (Hay socks Ryo, are socks (nice ones!) with the tip of the toe cut out. Tie string around the ankle opening and hang in your cage. Stuff lots of hay inside from the open toe end and piggies love pulling the hay out. This means they always have fresh hay to eat as well as the stuff they trample on.)
Thanks for comment about Avatar Briony, this is Sooty who is looking for a home, he is a gorgeous rex. xx

Thankyou Nutmeg, I'm definately going to try the haysock idea!:)

Just thought i would update to say the cage arrived today:) i cannot get over how big it is! the pigs look lost in it now lol their vetbed also arrived today so we were able to put them straight into it. they had their baths first like good boys(they hate having baths bless them) and then went into their new home and I'm pretty sure they like it. they were a bit unsure at first and hid in their house but i went to check on them a minute ago and they were wondering around.

Still waiting for their new toys and hammocks to arrive so its looking really bare at the moment. will take pics to put up here though.

Oh and i now see what people mean about the clips. its a bit annoying that you pay that much for a cage and all they give you to hold the thing together is a few flimsy clipsrolleyesoh well, I'm loving it anyway!:(|)

Ferplast

I have 2 Ferplast cages and love them. Used to have Neros but the Fernplast seem to clean better... Maybe just because base is dark blue instead of bright yellow though? Don't know.

Anyway, have a single boar in a Ferplast 120 on the floor (bought new for £28 - very cheap), and then pair of boars above in a Ferplast 140, bought used from ebay for £40 (also really cheap). My b'friend made a stand for it himself so just paid for the metal!

I don't have a problem with the bars. I wouldn't stack one on top of the other but that's just because you wouldn't be able to open the bottom one without getting the top one off first.

Oh, and I forget to close Colin's lid sometimes... he has free run of house anyway :)

Am glad you like it! I couldn't get over the size of the 140 either!

hi guys!

Is a ferplast120 big enough for 2? i belive its a similar size to the nero4?

when i went to get rescue pig the cage is actually a nero 2 which is whey to small so I'm going to invest in a ferplast 120 to eventually put my 2 together if they bond. i cant get a 140 in the flat but a 120 fits perfectly.

thanks!

I think it might be but bed part won't be big enough when they're fully grown... You'd be better off taking it out.

thanks, i have just found a nero 4 on ebay (she didnt lable it right!) so I'm hoping to get that for cheap. but ill keep my eye on the ferplast as i'd prefer that one.

I'm soo excited for my piggies!
