a friend of mine told me that male guinea pigs are only fertile till 1 year old.. is this true?

:agr: No. there's been some misunderstanding somewhere I think. Your friend has been misinformed but I have no idea where or how this has come about. I've never seen it written anywhere personally.
I don't believe that either sex loses their fertility through age, even the really old ones....

so a boar could breed at any age? okay thanks, I don't plan on breeding but it confused me as I was like "but then that would mean boars and sows could live together when older?" which clearly now I know wouldn't work :)

Yes, a boar can breed at any age unless he is neutered in which case he is 'safe' 6 weeks after the op to live with a female. You must wait the full 6 weeks though

is the fact " a female shouldn't have babys before 8 months" a lie too? I know they cant after a year as the bones become less flexible so could cause issues but then that leaves only 2 months for the first babies? aren't they preg for 70 days?

I'm afraid I can't answer that question so I'll wait until someone more experienced comes along @Wiebke @pig in the city
