This afternoon, we had formal introductions under the kitchen table. There was a tiny tense moment when Fflur met Nia (the top lady). However, Fflur didn't back up her rumble when Nia called her on it, so all dissolved in lots of harmless squeaking (and whatever else one overexcited boy gets up to!)

The big scrum!

"This way to the living room, my ladies!" (Good try, Llewi, but it didn't work out)

After all that excitement, things have gone rather quiet, but Fflur is now accepted!

AWWW that's such great news! I'm very pleased that Fflur is one of the tribe.

Great pics as usual. :)

Wonderful, wonderful news :)

I'm so very pleased and happy for Fflur that she is now a member of your tribe - and 'big bum' club ! She looks so at home, bless her.

This must be such a huge new experience for her as she's only ever lived in a hutch in a shed with her sister for company - now she's in piggy paradise :)

Thankyou once again for giving this special lady such a wonderful home.

Teresa x

fab news... i'm very happy for all of you

This is fantastic news - and I'm sure a lot of the successful bonding is due to your superb handling of the situation Wiebke - o.k., we all smile at the marvellous pictures and your entertaining "commentary" but in all seriousness, it's a big responsibility to get them all together and hope it will work - and you somehow make it seem so effortless. A lovely, lovely group of piggies, and I'm so happy for you and for them.

I am glad all went well xx

My friend has 3 pregnant girls and i was hoping to get a few more babies, I was a little worried how my other girls will get on with the new babies. Seeing all yours together makes me happy and exited, cant wait to get a few more now :)

I'm glad it all went well :) your piggies are all so gorgous!

I have now a group of eight! (And am determined to leave it at that as my cage is FULL)! PLEASE hold me to that! rolleyesrolleyesrolleyes

Thanks for all the compliments, they mean a lot to me!

It IS easier to bond with a bigger group. Having some experience with bonding also helps a lot - I am a lot better at reading guinea pigs nowadays and judging how and when to stage introductions and understanding what is going on at any stage.

Thankfully, Teresa has given me quite a bit of information about Fflur's background and quirks, so I could try and make the transition as easy on her as possible. The good thing about rehoming an older pet is that they generally are a lot less fazed about things than nervous youngsters!

Over the next days, gentle Fflur will hopefully settle quickly into my lively tribe and its way of life.

hehe, is that 7 girls and 1 boy? What size is their accommodation?

I better not let my OH know I'm making these kind of enquiries :))

Oh look at them all getting on so well.
That is one very lucky piggy xxxxx

Those pics brought tears to my eyes how wonderful thanks for allowing us to share in the joy hun.:(|)

That is indeed one busy boy who has acquired seven girls over the last several months!

You can look up my cage on here http://www.theguineapigforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=142&page=27 - it is now on small side (as it was planned for a maximum of six piggies), but my piggies have the run of the living room (with several piggy corners) throughout the day. I recommend that you rather look up Lisajazz' construction - she has just built the ideal cage for her similar sized tribe-to-be!

Ohhh thanks! I love that. Really good idea having the ramp on the outside.

I'm so pleased she's been accepted into the group via the initiation ceremony! Lovely pics, it's good to see her and the group getting on!

So glad it's working out well. I definitely think it's much easier to add to a large group as they always seem to find someone they want to be friends with.

Just out of interest, when you say your piggies have the run of the living room, do they not pee all over the floor! Poppet loves to come out and run around but I only let her on the kitchen floor now as I am concerned about her peeing all over my laminate flooring.

They have their corners to sit and nap (I have to go and take pics one day) where I have put down plastic under old toilet mats and bath towels; usually with some kind of shelter to encourage them in. Most accidents happen only with new piggies. For those occasions, I have a bottle with puppy accident carpet cleaner at the ready!

I would certainly NOT recommend it in rented accommodation.

Wonderful pictures Wiebke, I am so happy to see her settling in with Llewi and the ladies! :rose

Here is one from earlier on:

"That won't work, you know!" says Nia

No, thank you! I am now officially two over what I have been planning for! Thankfully, Fflur is a screamer, not a kicker or biter when it comes to (randy) boys!
