Seem to be using these frequently recently so wondered which out of these 3 have other Forum members found the best?
I find it a struggle sometimes getting the Fibreplex out properly but feel only need to use it a couple of times a day due to the amount while either Critical Care needs frequent syringing into piggies. Oxbow is flavoured, this one is Apple and Banana which they seem to enjoy while the Vetark one is thinner in texture.
I’ve often resorted to mixing any of them into some mashed pellets and cubes of cucumber to hopefully get the goodness, at least some of it! Into the correct piggy!
Any answers please!

Fibreplex is not a recovery food, it is a digestive aid; just stronger than probiotics.

Which recovery formula you settle for doesn't really matter all that much - the main thing is to find the one that goes down best with your piggy, especially if you have to feed for longer. You can always mix the fibreplex into syringe feed or you can mix different formulas. there are also new products coming onto the market all the time.

I don’t use recovery foods at all. The piggies generally don’t like them. I use mushed up nuggets for all the syringe feeding. I sometimes add wheat grass powder too.
Bought wheat grass powder then when I read up on it reviews said not to use for piggies so I’ve been sprinkling on my morning porage!

I’ve been adding it to their mashed pellet mix too! Probably so anxious that I’ve been giving them a bit of everything! Some of the older pigs seem to lose weight so been trying to give them extras.

Older guinea pigs - like the very old humans - lose tone naturally. As long as you have had them vet checked that they are otherwise OK, you just have to live with it. At that age, they will lose their ability to put on weight easily.

Fibreplex is a prebiotic it's not a recovery formula and is just a supplement

Oxbow critical is a recovery diet and can be used as a substitute diet whilst your piggie is not eating. A fully anorexic guinea will need 10ml/Kg five times a day as minimum ideally. As others have said some like to use mashed pellets.

Vetark critical care is just an electrolyte solution to help with rehydration it's not a syringe feeding food and has no fibre in it, just vitamins and minerals and glucose.

Thanks for your help. The Vets always seem to hand Fibreplex out after every consultation linked to tummy problems of any kind!
