Hi - well after the last few months researching, etc., and the last 6 weeks on here we have at last our two little boys!

After all the advice you gave we have adopted two little boys from Fi who runs a rescue centre in Bristol and I think these little boys are part of the Chippenham rescue she and others have been very heavily involved with.

Both are doing really, really well, a few shy moments here and there but nothing major, they are eating fatastically well, in fact they don't seem to stop! We even had a little popcorning this morning from Figaro which was a huge surprise!

I will as soon as poss put some pics on - not sure how I do it on here but I will try and figure it out!

You must be so happy with your lovely boys (as they must be with you, if they are popcorning already!)

Thanks! They're a bit more shy today, kept hiding whenever they saw me, but I sat for a while outside their hutch and they've popped out a few times. Still eating really well which is great, in fact their veggies are gone in minutes!

Good - eating well is always a great sign!

You will find that it is often a "two step forward one step back" thing with piggies; but they will come on nevertheless!
 
Well at last I've managed to get a couple of pics up and these on my profile!

They are doing well, still very nervy though and don't seem to come out that much unless we are not about! They eat for Britain and I am shocked how fast they clear through their veg or the grass in their run! We've handled them a few times but you can't help feeling they don't want to be there, they just want back in their hutch. Figaro (the friendlier of the two and the less dominant one) literally almost legged it out of arms within a min of me holding him.
 
can you remember what fi called them as it is driving me mad that i can't remember their "old names" aaah memory like a sieve!
 
Teddy and Rascal. Can't remember if I got the history on them as I was so shocked about the Chippenham recue lot and I don't know if they were from it or not! So my memory isn't much better?
 
It takes a time and patience at first - try to seduce them with little treats (tiny bits of cucumber, for instance); you can always get a piggy through its greedy guts! If they associate your hand with food, they will come for it!

If you have something they can hide underneath on your lap, like a towel, pullover or a cuddle bag, they will be more relaxed about being touched or cuddled. It may also help having both piggies out for a cuddle together.

Guinea pigs don't like open spaces - that's where predators can get them!

PS: they look very lovely!
 
thought so! i am not as bad as i thought i was, not sure if they were chippenham but i think i only had the pleasure of cleaning them out and not bathing them. Glad they have got a lovely home they are smashing pair of boys!

Thanks I will having something for them to hide under, dh and I have had them out together so they are next to each other as I am a little worried about having both together when it's just me!
