PipandPop
Junior Guinea Pig
Some of you may know that I am currently pig sitting for a neighbour who has a lone sow, who is 5 and I have two 18 month old sows. We made her a pen next to my twos to go in when we were at home, all has been fine.
I saw something out of the corner of my eye and somehow poppy had got in with lily and they were having a scrap. No idea how she did it, no gaps or breaks in the bars. I grabbed a cushion, ran over and shoved it between them (no way was I getting my hands involved) and managed to seperate them. Got poppy back in her pen with pippin and let her run off to calm down. Once Lily had stopped growling and teeth chattering she let me stroke her and seemed to relax a bit. I did notice that there were a few clumps of white hair on the carpet, but as lily is all white and poppy has a white band I have no idea who this has come out of (I suspect Lily).
I managed to catch her and gave her the once over on my lap, she shed a bit more hair, which is why I think the other stuff was hers but seemed fine, no blood or scratches. She's since gone to bed.
Poppy has also had the once over and can't see anything on her, she just seems more quiet than normal. Pippin hasn't even deigned to say hello to Lily so she was well out of it.
Is there anything I should be keeping an eye on over the next few days? I feel awful for allowing it to happen, I have no idea how they got in together! Plus it was the first time anything like this has happened. Thankfully i've read enough on here about possible fights I sort of reacted on gut instinct.
Thanks
A very nervous Caroline!
