Hi, i have 2 female guinea pigs who are around 3 months. They are not sisters we got them separate about 6 weeks ago from 2 different pet shops and put them together (pet shops said this would be ok as they were babies and cage would be neutral territory)They were fine at first but now all I can hear is squeaking and running around. I don't think they have bitten each other but there is bullying going on from both sides. We have had 2 females before for 6 years with no probs just the odd squabble and they would groom each other etc. These 2 do not groom each other and to be honest don't even know if they like each other. They are also super jumpy and squirmy when we try to hold them, again my last 2 piggies were more chilled out. If i separated them I couldn't get each of them a new friend as i could potentially end up with 4 cages if they didn't get on! If I did separate could they still play together in the run supervised or would this stress them out more? Also is it normal for them to be squirmy and jumpy at this age and will they calm down lol.

Hello

How old are they roughly and how long has the behaviour been going on? How big is there cage also?

It is possible they are in 'season' this normally lasts for 24-48 hours and during that time lots of dominance behaviour gets displayed... Our girls are an absolute nightmare in season time. Have a read of this thread here Sow Behaviour

Apologies, you said 3 months.... Hormones are running rampant around this time, they will be sorting out their hierarchy and seasons will throw this in disarray too at times.
As for them being squirmy, I have never met a 3 month old that isn't they get less so as they get older.

Hi! Is this all the time or only whenever each girl is in season about every two weeks?
You may find the information in this guide here helpful: Sow Behaviour

I would also second what SportBilly asked about the cage.
How big is it, and how is it set up?
Can you post a picture?
I find that with 3 in a cage they all needed to have access to separate hideys and food bowls, which would allow them to be away from each other if they wanted.
And girls drama an be huge- when my 3 sows were kicking off, my poor boar would toddle off up to the loft and keep well out of the way

The cage os a ferplast 120 it has a little shelf they can hide under, a bridge they can go under and a little log hidey. Also a hay rack outside the cage so they dont get stuck and a food bowl etc. One of them run around like crazy I dont know if its very well. It will be eating or whatever then have a mad crazy dash about then resume eating. I posted a thread a while ago when I first got them as their privates looked different but general opinion was they were both girls. They just squirm to go back to the cage when we hold them but are not scared anymore, they dont hide when we do put them back but squeak for food. They will eat when we hold them but when the food runs out they want to be away!

Sorry me again! I tried to pick them up today but they are super wriggly and will not sit and be stroked etc like my last piggies did. If they sruggle should i just hold them closer so they can'y or put them back (which i have been doing). I just feel like they will struggle all the more if they get what they want each time they do. They don't seem stressed when i put them back after holding them because they are still coming up a weeking for veg. They sometimes eat from my hand when i pick them up but mostly just struggle. Will these wild piggies calm down?

I'm bonding 2 boys, I put them in the pen for breakfast then they don't get dinner till the evening. I don't give them any more no treats. I think that cage is a tad nippy to small. Difficult to be sure as I have a C&C cage. At first I put nothing in the run, then when mine settled I put 2 hidey is with access all the way through so they can get away from each other if they need too. All this is in the run Not the cage.
