I recently got my older guinea pig a new friend, my older guinea pig's friend passed away about a year ago and she was alone for a bit, now she finally has a new friend, a younger guinea pig.
They seemed to be bonding well and were happy to be together. But now all of a sudden my older guinea pig seems a bit "rude" to the younger one. She is doing the noise at the younger one. I forgot the name but it's like the annoyed sound. And she circled the young one and jumps on her a bit, but the younger one just starts zooming later and doing popcorns like nothing happened and she seems to be taking it as playful.
But the older one for a few days now keeps doing it and I'm scared it's stressing the little one out because she now is starting to run away, but strangely keep coming back to the older one. I tried putting like a separator in the cage to divide it ao they are not together together but can still see and hear etc each other. I only did it for like an hour before taking the younger one out for pets and play time alone with my sister because she seemed sad being away from the older one. I'm not sure what to do. I want the best for both of them, especially because I know they like each other because they have been together a while now and seemed great! I'm not sure why this is happening now. Any advise? 😅

Hi!

Please take a deep breath and sit it out. You have a very lively, happy youngster and an older guinea pig who is mostly likely experiencing a stronger season, triggered by the new relationship. The youngster's behaviour should tell you that they are not worried about it. ;)
