Hi,

I've only had my two little boars since sunday so I'm panicking at everything they do at the mo.
They were fighting a bit this morning, is some fighting normal? They have plenty of space and food?
They are brothers about 5-6 weeks old.

Thanks,
x

When you say fighting what do you mean?

Mine have teeth chattered a little, done loads of mounting but never gone for one another. If they have gone for one another and are rolling about then it would be best to seperate them. :)

Well they were inside their house and there was some banging about and then one of them chased the other out and then they just chattered their teeth at each other? They both stand like cats ready to pounce then run away?

x

S&T are like that, I just say Shurrup and they do. Do they have two of everything? It does help and I've found the more space for them the better. :)

Ha ha does it sound like normal behaviour then? I said to badger to leave bodger alone and they both just froze and looked at me and hid.

Well they have two bowls, a tunnel, 2 bendy wood things, a bed and the house which is definitely big enough for 2 even if they dont want to share. Maybe I should get 2 smaller separate houses?

It does sound normal, even my babes where teeth chattering when I first got them (3 and 2 months) I would get two houses if you can, they could of had a little falling out over who is going to sleep in it...lol :)

I think I will! That way I can be sure they aren't fighting over the bedroom!

Thanks so much for your help, getting advice on here always makes me feel better!

:)

No probs, I know how you feel my older boys are 6 months old and are very tempremental right now, I hear them chasing one another round, then Twinkle stops when he sees me and says what have I done mum?

They should be fine, if all else fails, bribe them with veggies, but its like you are saying its ok to fight but on ocassions I've had to do it so battle doesn't commence! :D

I have two boars, brothers, who have been together their whole lives and are now over 1. The still do this from time to time - chasing around, teeth chattering etc. Nothing ever comes of it, and they soon settle down again, so I ignore it. I've never had any real fighting between them.

Sounds like your two little guys are perfectly normal.

yeah a little fighting is usual they are just probably figuring whos whos boss.
but if they do keep fighting and draw blood then i would seperate them?

Phew! I will keep an eye on this "brotherly love" and make sure no one is being bullied!

And then bribe them with food.....

i had 3 boars (brothers) and they done this but then they started to seriously fight and blood was drawn and a big peice of ear was missing ::) :'(,, they have all been seperated cause they are all fighting with one another

1 (twinkle) seems quite happy on his own like the king of the castle but the other 2 (fudge and stink) seem a bit sad so have been putting them in the run with a seperation between them they still chatter and hiss at each other through the bars but after a while they are found laying next to each other either side of the divide,, i am hoping in the spring to try and re bond them, and maybe get the other one (twinkle) neutered and get him a sow,,but that might upset the other 2 so really undecided what to :-\do

i dont think there is any chance of rebonding twinkle with the other 2,, when i put him in the run with the seperation he went berserk,, was head butting the divide to try to get the other piggy,, he was like a mad piggy very very aggresive,,maybe he might just be a lonesome boar

What is it with Twinkles they are all crazy pigs! :D It's hard to get three in a group. I had mine as 3 for 2 weeks, I thought that was good going, I know it can be done but if you have one of those stubborn pigs it will be a challenge!

Can you get him a lady friend and keep Twinkle and her away from the other two?

well it wouldnt be too bad in the summer cause i could put the hutch outside but in the winter i put them in the shed and the other 2 will smell her i am presuming,, maybe get him a boar from the rescue (obviously seeing if he will take to him) he is such a cocky piggy though

even when he is having lap time he head buts ;D your hand to stop you or start you stroking him,, whatever the mood takes him,,, he really thinks he is the boss ;D

Lap time is a nightmare with my Twinkle he rolls over and popcorns when being stroked, I think he is highly excitable, doesn't show aggression to me just like an excited puupy!

What breed is your Twinkle? Mine is an Aby/Peruvian Dolly. :D
