Hiya,

Need a bit of advice, I've just lost one of my boys sadly and have recently got a new one however my he isn't getting along with my current one ozzie.
If i neuter them will they have more of a chance at bonding or will it not change at all.
I have places I can take the little new one if it comes to rehoming him however I just wanna know if theres a chance they may bond.

When mixing them they seemed okay for the first few hours bit of scuffling as normal but had a fight and caused ozzie to bleed so I separated them. At the moment they are chattering at eachother and their hair goes up whenever they see eachother, Mack (new) even does heavy breathing when he sees him which to me is a bad sign.

I'm neutering Ozzie regardless so he can go with my girls but I don't want to put the boys back together if they'll fight again.
Can anyone help ?

Hiya! Sorry you’re having troubles with the new bond, it’s always sad if it doesn’t work out. Sadly I’m no expert with boar bonding but what I do know is that neutering doesn’t alter their hormones so it won’t help to bond them unfortunately :( All it does is stop them having babies!

Hopefully someone will be along soon to give more thorough advice, what kind of injury did Ozzie have? Like an accidental mouth or bum bite or a full on wound?

A bite on his cheek during the fight. Never had any of mine fight, my bondings have always gone well but this time it didn't they where a big ball of fluff, hes okay now though there was a fair amount of blood when it happened but nothing so severe he needed to see vet. I got in very quick. All bathed and healing well.
Yeah I thought the worst to be fair but was hoping someone would tell me otherwise ... it's a real shame he's such a cutie and a big character.
thanks for your help.

Poor little lad, hope it heals up soon! It’s such a shame :( Have you got any piggy rescues near you to do some boar dating?

Ozzie loves the girls (not a surprise) and they seem to like him so after his neuter on the 2nd April Ill be mixing them (shame i have to wait 6 weeks after). They're close so they can see each other he seems to be okay at the moment. Looking forward to putting them together.
As for Mack, he's extremely active and very crazy so i'm considering a farm or sanctuary near me so he can have plenty of space to run off his energy and I can still visit him then which would be lovely.
I've got essex guinea pig rat and rabbit rescue near me which I'm highly considering. They're really good so I've heard.
But at the moment hopefield sanctuary is about half hour away or marsh farm which is about 5 mins from me. They are my big options, plus I've met the lady that works with the small animals there and she seems to have alot of love and passion for them. I'm there next week so I'll see what she says.

That sounds good! It might be worth taking Mack to the rescue too, then he can be bonded and find a fabulous forever home too. It may just be from farms I know of where I live but they’re not always the best. One lets kids grab at them all the time and mix them all around so unplanned pregnancies and all sorts... Not saying it would be like that necessarily but at least a good rescue can home check and stuff! :) Or even be neutered and be given a wife!

haha he definitly needs a loving companion, I'm neutering him before rehoming him he goes on the 5th April for his op. I might get in contact with the rescue see what they say doesn't hurt to ask around! I just want him to have a really good home with lots of space and toys and not just in a standard small hutch .... I'll see if they'll let me be involved in where he goes lol. Only want the best for him of course.
