In the beginning of the year we welcomed young Midas into our family. He was my 5th piggie, and OH MY GOSH did he have anxiety. Obviously I let him settle for a while, but he never. Ever. Left his hut. He wouldnt come out to eat or drink unless the house was completely empty. He wouldnt eat his salads or anything. This went on for almost 2 months before we just tried something we havent done before- we took out his hut. We knew it sounded cruel, he was very scared. But it was the BEST THING EVER. It was as if he didnt even notice the hut was gone, he ate with us around, and within about 2 weeks we got him taking food from our hands, he had veggies for the first time. Now, after almost a year, I can have him on my lap and he actually enjoys it. A few months ago we gave him a tunnel, because when we gave him the hut he just went back to never coming out but with the tunnel hes fine. He has come a long way. He also recently started talking! He was our first silent piggie, so we were shocked when he started wheeking one day!

Just wanted to share our journey since I havent posted about him in a while! Has anyone else dealt with a piggie with such bad anxiety?

He is a very sweet looking piggy.
Does Midas live with a friend?
He used to live with 2 other males but they both passed away at around the same time. I've been trying to convince my fiance to get him a new friend but our apartment only allows one pet and we already have three. So I'm working on it!

This is the first time hes eaten with me while out in the open. Hes been really loving me since his surgery a few days ago. He hasnt been afraid of me whatsoever, allows me to pick him up no problem. Asks for pets. Explores the room instead of hiding. It's as if weve been best buddies this whole time!
