I went to Twycross Zoo on Saturday, and whilst i'm not too keen on zoos in general I think it is one of the better ones. Of course I popped over to pets corner to see what pigs they had and found this!

There were about 8 or 9 pigs in here, all female by the looks of it. None were chubby enough to be pregnant I don't think. They had at least one hidey each, bags of room, food, water and a massive pile of hay. They also had heat lamps because there's a door at each end so when it's cold I imagine there's a draft.

This was the enclosure, as I said, for once I was really pleased!

We went for my daughters birthday I was pleasantly surprised :))
At Dudley zoo there guinea pig cages leave a lot to be desired..

How fantastic! I'm very happy for those piggies! That's one zoo I'd definitely volunteer to work at and look after the piggies!

So nice to see a good story around all the bad.

Yes its really good isnt it. When I took my children I thought the guinea pigs at Twycross were my favourite part of the zoo! But it also depressed me a bit because my set up at home is not as amazing as that - they had so much space and it was all so lovely. But YAY for Twycross :) x

Wow! That's brilliant to see! :)
I love seeing places that get right!

Yes I went to twycross zoo last month and saw how lovely the piggies were kept, however because I'm also a rattie owner I was appalled at there conditions! The tubes they had going in and out of the main cage were full of rat poo. I didn't see any food down for them either. And the 5 rats that I saw looked ill.

Its great that the piggies have such great enclosures, I went in 2011 and was digusted the gorillas and chimps were still in small enclosures, they have spent a lot of money on a snow leopard and money would have been better spent on the apes enclosures. I love Chester Zoo.

WOW! You don's see anything like that here in the states. I wish they had rescues for piggies here in the states as well but.....nope! They have a local pet store called PET SMART and they always have at least 6 females in a large area. It's unfortunate that they are sold ($35 dollars). I personally do not agree with the sales of ANY animal including reptiles.
