I finally have the happiness to present my guinea pigs' new cage! ! It is 14sq feet! The previous one was 12sq feet!

I am soooooo happy for my boys, they seem to have LOVED it! Lots of running and popcorn! ! !

I am currently testing some beddings. The currently one is super soft and absorbent! I think I'll keep this one if they don't have any future problems!

I could not find smaller CxC grides size in my country so I am with this one. Gladly I hadn't any bad experience with them running away or being trapped.

Excellent!

I agree with Hannah, you do need another hay tray (you should always have two places to eat) and you definitely need to line the hay tray

Lucky boys it’s a lovely set up
I have two hay trays and pile up a load in the middle for them to jump in to - I line my trays with a pee pad/ fleece pad and change it daily

Thank you everyone! I will add another hay tray with line! I have washable puppy pads, is it good to be the liner?

Today I am going to supermarket so I will buy the new hay tray, I will post more updates here soon 🥰!

A washable puppy pad is perfect!
Do you think this would be a good second hay tray? I could not find a larger container here as the one I am using now. So I thought this could work as a hay tunnel? With liner inside it?

I know that the photo doesn't give a clear idea of the size, but it's 45cm long and pretty large inside. Should I buy it or pass?IMG_20240902_110530193.webpIMG_20240902_110533185.webp

I wouldn’t use that at all

Simply throw the additional hay directly in the cage floor. I’ve never used any kind of tray for my piggies
Thank you! I will look on another supermarket if they have some other larger one available. While on this, I will keep the currently one and make a place to throw more hay on the cage floor!

I didn't find another large container in the other supermarket, I think I'll follow your tips @Piggies&buns leaving in the floor or putting it also in this other container? I liked the hay tray because they spread less hay everywhere.

A cheap alternative would be a shallow cardboard box. You could use one of the type that are used for transporting fruit and veg to the supermarkets, or a (amazon) delivery box cut down to size. Line with a puppy pad and heap in the hay for happy piggies. Throw away the box when it gets too damaged or smelly.

I got this box from the supermarket today, I was thinking in using it along with line.
