Well, the hard work is anyway. It's taken us a month at weekends, but I'm pretty proud of the result. When my car is legal again I will be putting towels and fleece in the greenhouse as well, but this is all I have atm.

Look's like a lot of work has gone into this. Will it be their permanent enclosure or just a run? I ask because I'd worry about how hot greenhouses can get in the summer :)
 
It's in the shadiest spot, the sun is off it before lunch usually, plus we have a new mesh door that can be shut so the plastic door can stay open, and the window will also be meshed to stay open. Did you notice the lovely tunnel connecting to their hutch? They can getout of the greenhouse whenever they need too. Tbh, at this point in the year I'm more concerned with the cold, but next year I will investigate shading options if it does get too hot :)
 
Yes I noticed it, but I was unsure whether it was a permanent addition or an add on for certain period. I'd recommend getting a reliable thermometer for the greenhouse section so that you can monitor it closely. Obviously in cold weather it would be extremely cold too, but I assume you have winter plans as well. Perhaps in the summer some of the panels can be exchanged for mesh to keep it cool?
 
Wow, looks lovely and heaps of space and fun things. The connecting tunnel is a great idea. The idea of a thermometer so you can gauge temperature is a good one. I got my first piggy Hazelnut when I feared for his life so totally unprepared and he had to spend his first few months in my garage. I set up a thermometer as the garage can get really hot in our summers and turned on a cooling fan whenever the thermometer rose too high.
 
Lol I always forget when I worry about the heat....they won't be in there if it's mega hot, they'll be out in the run on the grass! I have a thermometer, altho it's hard to get accurate readings because if it's in direct sun it really heats up! I have to find an in the shade spot in there.
 
Looks fab, and you can tell there has been a lot of hard work gone into this (I'm sure I read a post about your plans to do this). Do your piggies like it? I have a cover over my hutch but I like your insulation I'm going to do that to mine then pop the cover over it :)

Wicks sell a roll of insulation like that for less than £15 and I notice aldi had a role in there magazine for £9.99! I have one of the scratch and Newton covers with the fly screen. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171449241856
What hutch do you have? They may make one for yours.
 
My role was 13.68 from b&q. Yeah they seem to like it, although I've not had much chance to check tbh, we only finished just before bed yesterday! They were in it this morning though, so at least I know they can use the ramp ok :)

It is not really advisable to have pigs out on the grass when it is really hot, numerous pigs died of heatstroke this summer as they were left in a run in the sun. Do you have a shady enclosure they could go in? Or some space indoors when it is hot?
 
That looks great! Thats a great space for them and you will be sheltered too. :)

Definately get a thermometer as my wooden shed with the door wide open and vents (and is in a shaded part of the garden) still gets really warm even on overcast days when there is not much breeze.

I am intending to insulated then inside to deflect some of the heat back out for warm days and to also slow heat loss in winter. It all costs money though so I am working on this. Maybe you could gradually retrofit panels to block heat and maybe replace some more of the plastic with solid panels too. Its great having the thermometer as then you can see what working and not working too.

Yeah, might slowly turn it into a shed. I have a good supply of old pallets so it just depends on having time to do it. The greenhouse is aluminium framed so I'm not sure howdI'd fasten panels on. And yes, the insulation would cost. Or I'll just build a massive shed, but that would require buying some lumber as well as insulation. We'll see.
